Anatomy Of A Debacle
Oregon's 391 yards rushing was the most since USC surrendered 486 in the 1977 Bluebonnet Bowl to Texas A&M. And USC won that game 47-28.
For the record, Oregon's 613 yards in offense just missed the all-time opponent record of 623 set by Notre Dame in 1946.

testify wolf! oh testify!
Clearly the defense needs work. In fact, it probably needs a complete overhaul, and a shot of adrenalin, and a revisit to training camp. Missed tackles, do they even know how to tackle? However, I would hardly call the game a "debacle" since the offense played quite well, with only one turnover - during garbage time, against an energized Oregon defense. It was our defense that lost the game, not the offense. So, Scott, if you want to lay blame where it is clearly due, also remember to give some credit and encouragement where it is also deserved, since this is, after all, somewhat of a rebuilding year, that unexpectedly lost an experienced quarterback, and has several key players out injured. The streak couldn't last forever. You remind me of Shaquille O'Neal, who now would give anything to be BACK on the Laker team, which, thankfully, does not want him. Remember those naysayers?
look at it this way MAB....Barkley kept his Heisman candidacy intact....
Gentlemen I agree with ALL of you. The norm is that I am usually EL Capitán the contrarian-NOT this time baby! That is if I want to get out of Dodge alive!
Seriously and expanding some on what MAB said. The problem I have with PC/DC coaches is that they knew well in advance that Masoli was the five feet long rattlesnake on the trail and damn if he didn't rattle/bite USC LB's on their rears. Please pardon my metaphor being poetic is NOT exactly my best. I put it simpler. You tell a child don't touch that iron rod because it is hot. The child touches the damn rod anyway and says daddy it burned my hand, HELLO Pete Carroll? I'll save the rest of any energy left for another day.
Thanks
I was at that Bluebonnet Bowl game! Fun game!
