Blount Statement

| | Comments (9) |

Here's the Pac-10's statement on Oregon's possible appeal of the suspension of tailback LeGarrette Blount.

The Pacific-10 Conference has been informed that the University of Oregon may consider an appeal to the Conference for an adjustment to the disciplinary actions taken against University of Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount, Commissioner Larry Scott announced.
Blount was suspended for the 2009 season as a result of unsportsmanlike actions
following Oregon's September 3 football game at Boise State.
"The University of Oregon may appeal to the Conference for a reduction in the original
disciplinary actions taken against LeGarrette Blount," Scott said. " The power to
reinstate rests with the Conference, and if and when the university decides to make
such an appeal, the Conference will take the matter under advisement and make a
decision."

That zero which the UO fans make with their hands and fingers stands for no class, no ethics, and no integrity. Reinstatement of Blount may come back to bite the UO football program in the ass. Other Pac-10 coaches can use it against the UO in a head-to-head competition for a particular athlete. Parents don't like football programs which excuse blatantly thug behavior.

question for staremedown...

how many games did maualuga miss for punching a guy at a frat party?

he is not going to help the team in a football way and nobody else missed 2 months of football for throwing one punch

his replacement is better than he is - so this is about healing for lgb, his teamates, and the duck faithful

lamichael james (blounts replacement) is just like jaquizz rodgers - remember him???

legarette has a get out of jail card, now when is mitch mustain going to be free???

totally ridiculous.

The guy has serious problems, he cannot control his
own temper, and needs help. Beyond that, he went into
the stands and started swinging. There were children int here for Christ sake!! What if he had hurt some poor little kid???

Hockey players that go into the stands to fight are
punished harshly, too. He disgraced the entire pac 10
conference and we get bashed enough already on ESPN
and the internet.

The guy is a scumbag the \NFL teams have already said
they won't have any interest in him.

He made his own bed he has to lay in it.

There's an important difference between Blount and Maualuga. Maualuga was arrested for misdemeanor battery, fulfilled the obligations of his diversion program, and didn't get in trouble again. Blount was suspended twice by Mike Bellotti, once for "not following team rules" and once for "failure to fulfill team obligations"--whatever those mean--then got in trouble a third time.

So Rey got in trouble and learned his lesson and LaGarrette got in trouble and didn't, so a stronger punishment make sense. Now, the only question is whether the Pac-10 decides a four or five game suspension is sufficient, and if he's really turned the corner.

toper,

blount previously went astray by being lazy and not doing what was required (and once for not stopping after the whistle in practice)

not major stuff -

his punch and meltdown was major, but it was a result of losing his head after a bad game and a taunt by an opponent to set off the fireworks

losing his senior year for that was too harsh - that is what i was really trying to say

if you can read between the lines, his coach said that giving him an indefinite suspension would not teach him a lesson - and most people agree with that

this end of season comeback seems to be fair - especially since it will be after the usc game

and i think we all know that if he went to fla st, it would have been a one games suspension and nobody would have cared

and... it was hard for me, but i took the high road and restrained from making any oj simpson remarks about stabbing x-wives and escaping in ford broncos
