Carroll On Mustain

Here's Pete Carroll and Mitch Mustain's rise to No. 2.
``Mitch took more reps and (quarterbacks coach) Jeremy (Bates) moved him up on the way he's looked,'' Carroll said. ``Mitch has done really well throwing a lot more consistently.''

Throwing consistently. Has that been the formula all year long?

The formula is simple and consistent: don't turn the ball over. Remember last season when Sanchez would play a whole game and then Mustain would take over in garbage time for one possession and immediately throw an interception? Yeah, that's Corp this year.

Also I don't agree that the separation between Mustain and Corp is so vast as some here seem to think. Over the entire period of practice and games so far this year Corp is in a slump and Mustain is on a hot streak. I suspect Corp, barring an emotional meltdown after being demoted to QB3, will work back into QB2 when Mustain begins to struggle. All it takes is one interception in garbage time or a bad quarter following a Barkley injury.

Right, Anteater, I forgot that the backups are not allowed to have miscues.
