Discuss The Half

The defense is a shambles. Pete Carroll better come up with second-half adjustments.

So what happened to the defense? How do you let a QB run 40 yards down field before being touched? Can Carroll finally let Taylor Mays make a play? Put him closer to the line of scrimmage!!! Why would you put your best defensive player 15 yards off the ball?

The LB's are really struggling too. Jesus Christ! What a shitty D

not only is usc gonna lose this game, their no loss by more than a td streak is officially over. Ducks blow it open in the second half. 45 24 just as I predicted.

Pathetic. For once you are right on Scott, the defense IS in shambles. This is the most helpless I've seen a USC defense since the Vince Young game.

Heres a 2nd half adjustment: start onside-kicking.

Is something wrong with Josh Pinkard? He seems to have seriously regressed.

All that said, PC is historically a master at making halftime adjustments (this year withstanding). Here's hoping he makes the necessary fix. Plus, Barkley looks good. Fight on guys!

defense lacks leader and is not well prepared. Once again a coordinated departs and Pete picks a yes man within instead of going after best he can get.

Take away MB and this is not much of a team.

What's Carroll supposed to do? Suit up and play?

Example: Shane Horton got pulverized on a few plays that really hurt us, but how can we blame him? Like way too many players on this defense, he's a rookie with no useful experience still learning the game.

Who are we kidding? Our guys can't be expected to get on-the-job training and then contain a very tricky offense in one of the toughest places to play in the country.

Think DJ Shoemate is even close to ready to start at fullback for this team? No knock on him: He's essentially NEVER PLAYED BEFORE (emphasis mine).

I'm only an informed fan -- not a former coach or player -- but I have to believe we discount experience at our peril. I don't know what Malcolm Smith, the Hortons, Casey, Harris, etc. are going to look like in 20 games ... I just know they'll be twice as good as they are tonight.

USC needs to run some reverses and misdirection plays. Oregon is attacking and quickly flowing to the ball.

The best way to counter-attack a hyper-aggressive defense? By faking one way and going the other. I hope Bates has some misdirection in his playbook.

And another thing: Daily News needs to get these posts up quicker. Why does it take 10-20 minutes for a post to show up when it is up instantaneously on OCR?

Pathetic defense and pathetic linebackers. What a joke.

The Trojans have relied on Josh and Kevin all this season, yet that is why they are vulnerable tonight.
Defenese is hell, yet offense is worse.
Loss will be by approximately 20 pts.
Granted, we have lost some talent to injuries, yet nothing resembling what Oregon has gained by just being superior talent-wise.
We are truly second-best this year, maybe even third, depending on the balance of the season.
sayonara guys!
