Johnson Transferred

USC tailback Stafon Johnson was transferred from California Hospital in Los Angeles to another hospital last night.
Katreena Salgado, director of public affairs at California Hospital, said Johnson was transferred for ``insurance purposes.'' She said he was in stable condition when he left the hospital.

I am confused. Did Stafon buy his student medical insurance? Secondly I was on the impression that student athletes are insured to cover injuries like this one. Can someone explain this mess?
