Your agenda is obvious Gargamel.

Pete Carroll is betting on his own games? Not surprising that he's made USC the laughing stock of college football! Why can't we be more like that crosstown powerhouse? At least they cover the spread when they lose by 20!!!

oh yeah, I'm a little turd...

More importantly, Pete Carroll is 18-4 against his last 22 Pac-10 opponents. I never thought performance against the spread (ATS)was something a coach should be measured by. I didn't do the research, but I believe he is probably 4-0 ATS against SEC teams, and 6-1 ATS in BCS games since 2002.

Some people (like Scott, maybe) would suggest that the Pac-10 ATS data demonstrate that Carroll is overrated in the eyes of the betting public. However, when you look at the bigger picture, it is more likely that the rest of the Pac-10 is underrated in the eyes of the betting public. Just say'n.

Scott has never beaten the spread, although he occasionally likes to cover himself in spread.

Concur USC"89

Don't confuse USC'89 (the USC sky is always falling) with USC"89 (who is mocking USC'89).

uscmike, ' instead of " ....very observant. I do think that Gilly had legitimate intent in his attempted concurrence though. I'd certainly agree with him.

Back to THIS topic thread..... regardless of all the pollster rankings, regardless of all the Vegas pointspreads, I'd bet that there are damn few out there that would bet against USC to just win! against anyone in the rankings on a neutral field. I also think that Wolf posted an irrellevant topic here, since PC nor any other NCAA head coach, and point spreads, should have no connection! Point spreads as they apply to NCAA head coaches should be a verboten topic and certainly not a proficiency standard.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
