Here's more from Pete Carroll on why he elevated quarterback Mitch Mustain.

The only reason Mustain was not elevated sooner was so Corp would be let down as gently and slowly as possible. I predicted this was going to happen like this two weeks ago. Not surprised in the least.

Corp is now finished at USC and should transfer at the end of the season. He is a completely beaten man at this point.

I would not be surprised to see circumstances where Mustain is the starter before the end of the season.

Mustian will be starting by the end of the season. I am always right!

You are out of your mind Gordon if you think Mustain ever starts before Bark without a traumatic injury. And you are out or your mind if you think PC cares about letting down someone slowly as possible.

Problem is that PC didn't handle the problem of an utterly incompetent OC well. He also didn't reign in his own desperate desire to have a Carson, Matt, Mark, etc that isn't someone else's creation (or maybe it's NAMBLA love.) In either case he undercut the $hit out of Corp.

It is a case that called for politickin and maturity and Corp is remarkably not good at politickin and immature. He was blatantly honest with the media about how he felt unsure and a bit bitter about the switch during his injury and was confused about the answers he got. Then he was blatantly honest about his transfer thoughts. Finally he was blatantly honest about being hurt from comments of his coach and certain team mates after the UW loss. Is he in pre school? Shut the hell up, defend yourself when necessary and have some sense of confidence outside of what others say.

I'm always surprised that some of these kids don't have parents mature enough to not overstep (assuming they overstep as much as presented) but still tell their kids what time it is. Sure Mustain knows what's up but he's had to pay dearly for the understanding. Corp however should have seen just how things were shaking out back when he got his injury and still could have used the year as his transfer year. He should have seen that a Clarkson coached, classic drop back passer was going to beat out a dual threat guy who never even was allowed to roll out much less run.

If he still was too stupid to figure it out, he should have saw how in two statistically even (crappy) performances with him and Bark that instead of blaming the difference (three redzone fumbles) on the team Carroll and yes Barkley were publicly blaming the loss on him. If he had any sense he would have publicly shot back a media "go screw yourself, I'm gone" the way some other transfers out did, and got a lawyer to help him transfer in the PAC 10 (because we know he wouldn't be allowed to transfer in conference without a fight.) I guess you either get families that are all business or families that basically don't have have a clue and nothing in between.

I love all the rah rah, school spirit because the semi-amateurism and school thing is what is endearing about college football but in the end it is a multi-million dollar business with multi-millionaire coaches and multi-million dollar futures and players with what is probably millions of dollars worth of time and coaching invested in them to get to this point.

The Times has Mustain throwing TWO interceptions, and fumbling a snap, in yesterday's practice. Anyone catch the whole workout?

When I was referring to "circumstances" regarding Mustain starting before the end of the season, I did mean Barkley getting injured.
