Mustain No. 2

WOW , Corp really must be in the Dog house

We all called this. My prediction was that Corp will transfer and they might as well have Mustain be the #2 this year since he will be next year. I think Corp's body language and attitude is what killed him. During the Washington game instead of looking fired up and ready to get back in and make up for mistakes he slumped over to the bench and needed Bates to hand hold him.

Too bad for Corp. He goes from the starting QB for USC in fall camp to a hairline leg fracture to 3rd string. I feel for the guy. But, TC is right - Corp blew his one and (apparently) only chance to show what he can do.

Surprise, surprise.

Hopefully, Mustain (and perhaps even Corp) can get some PT in scrub time to get comfortable in a game situation.

This is nothing more than Pete Carroll's attempt at keeping Mitch Mustain from playing baseball so that Pete can save face to the next wave of recruits.

These players and their families deserve more.

Given how player development this year has progressed, I'm not inclined to dispute your perspective.

Bobo - I agree with giving the back-up QBs some garbage PT, but the stats show otherwise: Carroll does not play the back-up QB much. He'll keep Barkley in the game so he can maximize his game experience. But, as we learned from Tebow, there is a risk of a garbage time injury to the starting QB ... which is, ironically, when the back-up QB with little to no game experience is desperately needed. (Mustain's SEC experience was so 2006.)

Guillory/Augustine - Naming Mustain as the back-up is not some ploy. If Barkley gets hurt, then Mustain is in the game. Given Corp's performance in the UW game, you can't dispute Corp's demotion/Mustain's promotion.

After all, the depth chart is subject to change, because there is always open competition, including the QB position, right? ;-)
