Pete Carroll on Notre Dame: ``They're better than last year. The quarterback is playing great. They've looked good against schools that are traditionally well-known for football.''

That is textbook how to taunt a fat person. Weis will read that and know that PC is making light of him and his players but won't understand how. It will drive him nuts for the next 10 days.

What Carroll says is true. ND is playing better than last year, and Clausen is playing great. They have looked good against teams that are traditionally well-known for football, even though all aren't currently living up to that tradition. So where's the taunt? Carroll is basically commenting on his next opponent without having to give more credit than is due.
Anyone who takes that comment and somehow twists it around as a taunt on a "fat person" obviously is looking for any reason to taunt Weis himself. And somehow, I seriously doubt that Weis will think 2 seconds past what PC said, much less ten days.

I agree with Bosco. I think Pete is taking a subtle jab at Charlie by saying the teams they've played aren't as good as their names would suggest. Why would you use that kind of language if that wasn't what you were going for? Why not say "they've looked good against some really tough competition"? Because their competition hasn't been tough - that's why. Sure, ND is 11 seconds from being 5-0, but they're also about 30 seconds from being 1-4. Every game they've won this year (with the exception of WAC school, Nevada) has come when time is winding down. And the teams they've beaten haven't exactly set the world on fire either.
And Haibbrooks, I agree - Charlie probably didn't think more than 2 seconds about Pete's quote because he was already thinking about his next meal.

Charlie Weis looks like the number 8.
