Who would have thought a few games ago that the defense would be so bad. I'm wondering if we can beat Stanford and Arizona now.

BBANNG Author Profile Page said:

Let em have it gargamel...it looked like we didn't even scout their offense

Well, it was going to happen sooner or later. Teams can only go so long and USC streak of Pac-10 championships and top-4 finishes is over. It's been a long time since I said this so early in the season, but "There's always next year."

PUSCs Author Profile Page said:

Ms. Carroll couldn't run off the field fast enough!
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! SUC ON!!!! Can't CHEAT FOREVER!!!

nealtrojan Author Profile Page said:

My sincere thanks to my beloved Trojans for not making this game a stress-inducing nail biter for most of the second half. It was no contest. What the heck happened to the D? No more thrills this year. See you next year.

Charlie Bucket Author Profile Page said:

c'mon wolf, post the final score....i need to see it...and the trojies need to eat it.

jaytphillips Author Profile Page said:

If the D doesn't get it together, this could easily be a 4-loss season. Could Arizona be favored in that game? Toby G and Stanford could gash this D as well.

The streak had to end eventually.

Ouch. Its been a long, long time since we've taken a beating like that. Oregon is legit. Our defense is not.

Cue the trolls.

the whole state of oregon must have been watching this game - no trick or treaters on our street

the spread and the way masoli played made the difference - along with oregon changing up its blitzing and finally getting some pressure on barkley

chip kelly really did a good coaching job

you guys should have played taylor mays at nose tackle - he made all his tackles after the ducks were getting 1st downs

usc's rein is over - it is no longer the pac1 anymore

i think i was closest to predicting the score - scott, will you buy me one of those cool black autzen halloween t-shits?

Charlie Bucket Author Profile Page said:

why all the criticism of wolf?? it is clear he is devastated by the Southern Cal beat down...he can't even bring himself to post the final score.

wow if appears CuckerBucker's analysis was spot on: Alioti's blitz scheme in the 2nd half spelled doom for MB7...he could not hang with the pressure.

i think i have forgotten more about football than chetey petey will ever know.

BoscoH Author Profile Page said:

I'm glad I took the kids out trick or treating. I DVR'd it and have already been told not to bother watching. It has been a great run though. And it will be interesting to see how the kids finish off the season.

coach carroll how about a 2nd-half adjustment? oh I guess you took a calculated risk as you just said on the postgame show. let's face it: will harris isn't very good, mike morgan, malik jackson, everson, tupou, malcolm, and the horton's aren't very good. i'm sick of will harris getting beatin all over the field. the hit that post over both harris & horton. embarrassing.

Clearly Pete was right on when he admitted to mistakes by coaching staff on defense. Also clear they miss Nick Holt, if for nothing else than energizing the players.

Also clear Oregon is very talented and well coached and beat us soundly - tonight. Probably could not do it twice in a row. And one other thing, after Chip Kelly spent the whole season planning and scheming for this game,

Now Oregon will find out what it is like, and has been like for USC for the past 7 years when other teams and coaches plan and scheme for the game against them for days and weeks and months, and treat it like their own personal bowl game. Probably just what Stanford will do next week, and Arizona and the others...will be interesting to see if Oregon can sustain the talent, energy, planning, scheming, and record like USC has for the past 7 years, or even the next 6 weeks. Will Oregon actually win the Pac-10? Or was this game the be-all end-all of the year for them?

Unlike the outcome of this one game, the true measure of success will be what the story is like the first week of December, or this time next year and we all know how many times the story has been consistently the same year in and year out while USC has been on top. Oregon, be careful what you wish for. Personally, I predict you are a "one and done" if you actually wind up being a "one" at all.

Oregon did us a favor tonight by exposing our vulnerabilities. Both Oregon State and ND exposed these same vulnerabilities but tonight's game tipped the scales. They ran right through our defense on just about every play like it was a sieve. Speed kills. It raises a lot of questions that need to be addressed.

TrojanRick Author Profile Page said:

I have been saying all season that #36 Josh Pinkard and #15 Kevin Thomas are the CHIEF problems on defense, yet hardly the ONLY problem.
But oh, do they create opportunities for the opponents.
This game showed just how pathetic the usc defense is, and that the offense is really no better.
Granted, injuries are injuries, but at full strength, we would have finished 2nd tonight. We are just not a very good football team at this point, and as a previous poster suggested, we could end up the season with 4 losses, maybe even 5.
And maybe we deserve it - to get Petey to realize that teamwork, quality coaching, and of course quality talent make quality teams. Where is NORM CHOW when you really want him - god, knows, fucla has no clue how to use his skills.

One Pete was actually closest to the final score

ducks will be ranked #4

blount will be reinstated and play next week - he is an inspiration to all

here is the real deal: duck backups from last year outplayed trojan backups from last year - oregon was faster on offense, defense, special teams

Yoda's Attorney Author Profile Page said:

Grand Master Jedi Yoda, on behalf of the Jedi Council, has requested, for the record, and in the absence of Mr. Wolf's summation, that I indicate the official final score which was:

The University of Oregon 47
The University of Southern California 20

Accordingly, the margin of victory was 27 points.

Kindly direct any inquiries to my office. Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation and kind attention to this matter.

In this history of your idiotic comments, that's the winner. You really are a moron.

Big congrats to Kelly and the Ducks. They gameplanned the hell out of that one and executed it perfectly. Hard to watch, but nice job.

Fight on.

Shoot! I was so close to getting my prediction spot on. I knew it would be a total blowout. USC is living off its reputation at this point. They are, at best, a 7-5 team. They'd essentially be a Kentucky or Vanderbilt if they were in the SEC. Hopefully, this forces PC to evolve and adapt to CFB style offensive and defensive philosophies. As bad as he wants to run a farm system for the NFL, I'd like to see USC embrace some elements of a spread offense and leave the "pro-style" offense to the pros.

Blount an inspiration to us all????? Excuse me while I throw up! No thanks quacky duck fan my idea of an inspiration isnt a thug who acts like a thug and then gets his big poopoo'd second chance at "life" where he plays football again.....dont think there will be any hollywood remake of this story. But then again in the hole that is Eugene this is the story of the year! You guys seriously smoke wayyyyy too much for your own good! Im sure if the NFL doesnt work out for Blount your buddy Phil will let him mop floors at Nike for 80k a year

Hey "Coach", what about Maualuga's beating up some kid and saying "I own the police" before he ran off....or Cushing breaking some dude's jaw at a beach party...or Shareece Wright...or Winston Justice...Herschel Dennis...Eric Wright or Steve Smith for actually breaking Dominique Birds jaw...Frostee Rucker touching up his chick with his fists...Clay Matthews "White Nation" website...Kulaka Maiava stalking an ex-girlfriend at her high school and punching her new boyfriend...

USC seems to love giving the thugs a second chance....Fight on!

blount IS an inspiration for these reasons:

he got screwed with his punishment (was end of career) for an ofense that gets EVERY SINGLE OTHER PLAYER in college football a 1 game suspension

(as rumor has it) he was like that his whole life, yet with nothing to gain - he at least pretended to act right or he actually did a transformation

chipper consulted many experts - among them tony dungy, to give blount a second chance

---------------------

other than all that: god must have been please last night as he has blessed us in western oregon with blue skies and sunshine today

---------------------

usc fans: your teams had a good run like no others in recent college football history

if there were real playoffs, usc would have probably won about 6 recent NCs - last year's team would have destroyed florida

but this season belongs to the ducks - can you guys root for them the rest of the way to support west coast football??? (probably not)

uscmike Author Profile Page said:

Ore111 - Can't root for the Ducks just yet. In theory, Oregon could lose 3 of last 4 Pac-10 games, so Pac-10 title is not yet clinched. Indeed, this happened two years ago when Dixon got hurt. Having said that, I typically root for Pac-10 teams in bowl games...except fUCLA. I can't root for fUCLA unless it benefits USC (e.g., USC needs fULCA to beat a Pac10 team to move into first place).

Congrats, though, to Oregon for kicking USC's ass. There is no way to sugarcoat it. In other losses, USC could point to turnovers, poor QB, the refs, etc., because they were all close losses. This loss is unprecedented in Carroll's era. My hope is that it was an aberration; my fear is that it was not. The defense was horrible. Poor tackling. Easily deceived on the handoffs. Out of position. QB running untouched for 40 yds.

Lastly, the fUCLA fans who are trolling on this board (CB, Yoda, etc.) are pathetic. Your team just went O for October!! USC had a bad loss. fUCLA is having a bad decade. Losers.

Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis.
