Where's Idaho???
Ha ha ha 70 points to Nevada... a team that was shut out in South Bend. You were drinking their Koolaid, but they peed in the punch bowl.
There are too many inconsistencies to note here. I'll leave it to other readers and Pollspeak to do the talking.
Scott,
Dont get Iowa at 11. If Iowa goes perfect and UT loses, they will play the winner of UF/Ala in the BCS title game.
Nice Troll on Oregon fans with the #14 ranking BEHIND Miami and Ole Miss. I commend you. Too bad Autzen will be USC's graveyard on Halloween.
Dude! You're crazy! Oregon is a GREAT team! We are going to have to play great to beat them! No way are they below MIAMI....oh yeah,MIAMI LOST! Oregon's only loss is the Boise State on opening night. Blount's punch should NOT punish them in the polls. Get a clue.
I definitely "get" Iowa at 11. Watched the Michigan State game -- it was nearly impossible to determine which team was 7-0 and which was 4-3. If the Hawkeyes actually make it to the Rose Bowl, they'll be embarrassed by 'SC or Oregon.
Yes, I disagree with some of rankings here (Oregon at 14 is too low, and TCU looks very tough), we need flexibility in the ranking system. Don't put Iowa #6 just because they may go undefeated, especially since every team in Scott's Top 10 would be a touchdown or better favorite against them on a neutral field -- and they'd be a huge underdog against Florida or Texas.
And I hope other posters won't freak out at our #7 ranking here. If we win out, we'll be just fine and have a very good chance at the BCS game. We're usually the highest-ranked one-loss team in the country.
Love Oklahoma at #16. After all, they do have 3 wins against D1 opponents. I guess the actual results on the field don't matter much. Mississippi is a close second. If they can knock off Northern Arizona, to complete the NAU, UAB, SE Louisiana trifecta, I don't see how you can keep them out of the top 10. Wins at 2-5 Memphis & 2-6 Vandy are particularly impressive.
Don't get your love for Georgia Tech, with a win over Va Tech and a loss to Miami and 4 other who cares games.
Cincinnati still needs to play quality opponents to determine their ranking.
USC will lose next weekend unless the defense finally decides to show up, in which case their current #7 will not matter, but Oregon at #14 is a sham.
Oregon could probably beat Florida or Alabama right now. Texas, who knows as they have only beaten the okies, yet who hasn't?!
Oregon State deserves a ranking over many on the bottom of this list, Arizona notwithstanding.
so, Oregon loses to No. 8 Boise in the first week and SC loses to the team that Oregon just ran circles around yet SC gets the nod by 7 spots? I see... I guess that'll make it even sweeter when SC gets trounced next weekend.
Scott,
What happened to Nebraska (last week SW rank #12) & Kansas (#11)?
The week before that, SW had them both in the top 10. Funny stuff.
Is Va Tech really still a top 10 team?
Scott didn't really answer my question last week. I asked him when was the last time he ranked SC higher, or at least the same, as the actual AP poll. His answer was that he ranked SC #1 back in the Reggie Bush days. So I'm assuming it's been years that he's ranked them as high as the actual poll.
Scott, TCU beat 2 ACC teams OOC on THE ROAD. They beat Clemson on the road. Clemson just beat Miami. TCU just destroyed BYU in Provo. And, oh yeah, TCU BEAT BOISE ST in the Qualcomm Bowl last season. TCU is in a much better conference and are a better team with a better resume than Boise St.
Welcome, Ducks Fans!
Congratulations on your win in Seattle last night.
And yes, you may well beat us next weekend -- particularly if our defense plays like it did last night against your cross-state rivals. Masoli is terrific when he's healthy, LaMichael James might be the best running back in the Pac-10, and the crowd at Autzen has always been one of your greatest advantages.
But until then, for the love of all things football, please stop using the "we beat X and they beat Y so therefore we're a better team than Y" argument.
By the same token, as you may recall USC beat Notre Dame, who beat Washington, who beat USC. So therefore, I proclaim that USC should be ranked higher than USC.
This list is always good for a laugh.
The thing that some of these Oregon fans and even some of the voters who put LSU ahead of SC because LSU barely beat Washington while SC barely lost, don't get is that SC played Washington pretty much without a QB, without their all American safety, and their #2 receiver. Injuries are part of the game but if you really want to compare, then compare apples to apples.
Oregon's ranking is not based on the quality of its loss compared to USC's loss, but on the relative lack of perceived quality wins.
USC defeated ranked out-of-conference opponents Ohio State and Notre Dame on the road. Oregon defeated a lower-ranked Utah and unranked Purdue at home.
Both teams defeated what was thought to be a quality Cal team, although once again USC did it on the road and Oregon did it at home.
If Oregon does beat USC this weekend it will finally have the quality win that voters are looking for and its ranking will reflect that.
Scott the douche is the 2 week reigning champion "Worst Voter of the Week" at pollspeak.com.
This week's ballot will once again merit consideration.
Feel free to pay a visit and help him keep his title!
USC is ranked 5 in this weeks BCS so this poll is irrelevant as it is every week.
Scott- Do you really think Cincy & GT could be the Trojans? Come on.
I honestly don't have any problems ranking Cincinnati that high though.
They're undefeated.
They beat Oregon State in Corvalis.
They beat Fresno State (Boise St.'s next best win)
They destroyed Rutgers in the season opener.
They beat up on South Florida on the road in a game where they saw their starting QB go down with injury.
They'll play some tough games versus West Virginia, Pitt, and UConn before the season is over, so they'll be tested.
I don't think they're the 4th best team in the country, but they've played well and beaten good teams on the road, so it's tough to rail against them.
Iowa on the other hand (props to Scooter for placing them much lower than the polls and computers have thus far) are another story. They are the luckiest team in the world and have a ton of unimpressive victories including the game against FCS Northern Iowa that came down to two blocked field goals at the end - and a three point win against lowly Sun Belt also-ran Arkansas State. They also have unimpressive wins against Michigan and Michigan State. They did play well against Arizona (albeit before Foles took over the starting job) and Penn State, but I don't think their body of work compares to the other elite teams (despite the computers having them at #1). Somebody needs to explain to the computers that beating a 6-1 Northern Iowa team (by 1) at home is not more impressive than beating a 5-2 Cal team (by 27)on the road.
Dude ... GT above USC? And what has LSU done to be that high?
Again, comments against your poll positions, please. Looks like you don't think too much ranking teams, maybe you can spend some time explaining your rankings.
You have the Bad voter of the week on pollspeak.com locked up with your craziness!
Scottie boy, either take your AP voting job seriously or give it up to a more qualified reporter. Ted Miller of ESPN was right when he said some blogs try to use controversy to get clicks. must be the strategy here.
