Answer Saturday! (Part 3)
Something feels weird when Stanford-Cal is today but USC-UCLA will not be for another week.

What changes do you recommend that the football program undertake in the off-season, including the changes that should be made by the administration, Garrett, Carroll, the coaches, and/or players? Feel free to give a comprehensive answer. Thanks for the forum, Scott, as always.
A: First off, recruiting needs to be overhauled. USC needs to get in on players and not waste time. A case in point is linebacker Jordan Zumwalt of Edison, who already committed to Stanford and was only recently offered by USC. He is now considering USC but the delay might cost the Trojans a recruit. And Jim Harbaugh liked what he saw. There also has to be a rule that the offensive coordinator position is not an on-the-job training spot.
When Pete Carroll got hired, he immediately contacted Norm Chow for the offensive coordinator's job. In the past five years, he's hired Lane Kiffin, Steve Sarkisian and Jeremy Bates. No Chow-like search was conducted.
These two developments have the most impact on the field: Talent and coaching. Everything else after that is secondary.
Q Scott,
Of the many Pete Carroll truisms (win forever, second-half team, never loses in November etc) which ones if any are still true?
Thanks and feel free to criticize any spelling or grammatical errors.
A: Well, USC still rips it!

"First off, recruiting needs to be overhauled"
Congratulations, Wolf, this day you've made the stupidiest statement in the history of your amateur blog. And that isn't easy to do.
Check SC's recruiting classes the last 8 years and where they rank nationally. You are totally out of touch so you wouldn't know this, but PC and Company may well be poised to bring in the nation's top class, including about 5 of the top 10 players nationally.
Stick with cheerleading, Scott. You are an embarrassment to your paper and sports journalism.
Since I have never followed ex-Indians-Bears football it does not seem strange to me.
What is strange is that the SC-SUCLA or Irish game is not the final game of the regular season.
maybe pete caroll can recruit that psycho soccer girl at new mexico to play linebacker???
Sorry Oregon111, great idea but last I heard pulling hair is also a personal foul in football!
What a bold statement: "Talent and coaching have the most impact on the field"...You mean, as Coach Smith aptly put it, the logo on the helmet does not win football games?
