Answer Tuesday! (Part 2)
If USC would blow someone out, I would have time to answer the Girls' Aloud forum questions.

how will these embarrassing loses affect recruiting?
A: As I said in the last entry, a bad season often helps recruiting because it makes recruits think they can come in immediately and play.

The interior dline seems terrible...no push, getting pushed back...what's the problem?
would fangupo have made a differnce?
also, the d-ends seem to be constantly out of position...why is that?
how much of the linebackers problem is experience?
how did kennard play?
like you said, soo many questions...
A: One question per person please. I think Fangupo's injury did hurt because he was a space-eater and would offset the absence of Armond Armstead early in the season and then offset the fact Armstead is now playing at less than 100 percent with his broken wrist. But I also think Malik Jackson should play more because none of the defensive ends is markedly better than the others and he's got more of a big-play potential than some of the other candidates.

Wolf, now that Carroll Era has ended, do you agree with others in the media, that overall, his tenure was a dissapointment, given the immense talent, the brilliant staff, and Carroll's complete autonomy? Carroll won only one Crystal football (and one AP paper championship). other programs have won multiple Crystals (FL,LSU) while still other programs made it to more BCS Championship Games (Fl.St-3, OH.St-3& OK-4).
if you take out all the shoulda-coulda losses to unranked teams, and the coaching blunders in the crushing loss to TX, Carroll could've won 4-6 Crystal trophies instead of one (that might be taken away once the NCAA issues it's ruling). so give us your grade overall: A) great B) good C) ok D) bust.
A: I'd give him a B. I've said for years USC would never win a national title without Norm Chow and I believe they would have at least two more if he stayed. That's the difference between an A and a B.

Charlie Bucket said...."Damn, gutty little CSUF stuffed my beloved bRUIN hoopsters on our decaying POS Apalling Pavillion floor last night, and they even prolonged my pain by making it take 2OTs to rub it in. Some basketball school I am".....
Really Scott? You give Pete a B. 7 years of dominance in the pac-10 only gets you a B? While I would have liked more national championships as well, to win one so many things have to go right and you have to be lucky. Any team would look at USC and love to have landed Pete and the streak he has brought to USC.
So Wolf, you believe the "Carroll Era has ended"? What a joke.
The Carroll Era has ended?
Also, if Carroll gets a B, who desrves an A?
Charlie Bucket... are you serious? Pete's tenure is actually a disappointment?
I guess you would consider Bob Toledo the paragon of football success...
Wolf, now that the Ben Howland era ended last night... zero NC's, lower winning % than Harrick, only 1 PAC-10 regular season title... give us your grade overall...
CSUF.........SWEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rgryry5: i think you support my position, albeit unwittingly. i don't agree "any school" would leap at the chance to have inherited Chetey Petey's "streak". here are some who would not: FL & LSU who have 2 Crystals each, as well as Fl.St, OSU & OK who have all been to more BCS Championship Games than Southern Cal. Chetey's dominance is a myth, and you are an errand boy sent by grocery clerks to collect a bill.
Hey kconway
REgarding the D line paly, try http://www.trojanfootballanalysis.com/wp/wordpress/?p=1572
It would seem the inexperience in the front 7 is really exposed against teams like Oregon. It would seem less that guys are getting beat as much as they are not reading the play correctly. A lot of that is just comes down to game time experience and an intuitive sense that some guys just have.
Charlie Bucket, why so angry? Slick Rick New Weasel has your girls playing so well they beat Wazzoo. And just think, you may get a Humanitarian Bowl. Sweet.
It does not matter what shallow, jealous SUCLA guys think of Pete Carroll or what sportswriters write about him.-- His place in college football lore is secure. He was the winningest coach of the first decade of the 2000s, won 2 national championships, and amazingly was in the Top-4 nationally 7 years running. It has been a memory filled decade for Trojan fans, and the Trojan run is not yet finished, only taking the year off.
To clarify: only the troll says that the Pete Carroll era has ended. Wolfie is just responding to his "question," which is more like 2/3 attack on Pete Carroll and 1/3 actual question. These guys lurk around when we're winning and go away when we're losing. Part of the game when you're reading a sports blog.
Urban Meyer gets an A. He's coaching the program of the decade. Pete's coaching the team that once was close to being the program of the decade, at least until about 1/3 of the way through.
Florida won 10 less games than SC this decade. The decade will go down as belonging to SC, Florida, and LSU. There is a good argument to be made about each of these three.
Like a snail on a razor, eh CB......the horror...the horror.....
