Will Carroll start spending more time with FOOTBALL related stuff and less time with his outside interests?? And will Mike Garrett call him on the carpet and tell him to get back to football if he continues with his outside interests?
A: Great point. Maybe one byproduct of these season will be a back to basics approach. I'm not sure about being called on the carpet. He makes more than $4 million and is the best coach in the history of USC football, so I think he can only be told so much, to be completely honest.

When PC anointed Barkley as the starter, do you think he thought the team would have trouble scoring over 20 points or the third down problems?
A: I think he thought they might struggle early but eventually would be as good or better than last season and that Barkley would have a banner year. It didn't quite work out that way.

Wolfie: here's a question from left field. What games does a USC beat writer with his own sports blog watch on Saturdays where his team has a bye? Do you start scouting teams for the Sun Bowl (checking out what Utah and BYU are up to), or hold out hopes for an upset Saturday for the team to get into the Holiday Bowl (checking out the Pac 10 games)?
El Paso is one of the ugliest cities in the Country. How did the Pac 10 think this was a reward for coming in 3rd?
TC:
My guess is that it is because the weather is usually good, and it has history (it is the second oldest bowl game).
Of course there's always the idea that an appropriate amount of $money$ may have influenced a decision somewhere along the line.
