Seeing as Iowa lost at home to NORTHWESTERN and Penn State also lost at home and has 2 losses in a weaker conference, looks like those are nothing but rumors.

scott wolf,

seriously.. consider this (now that the BCS rankings have been released today)

-You had Utah ahead of USC while the BCS has them all the way down at 16.
-The BCS has Oregon State ranked, you don't.
-The AP moved Stanford into the Top 25 after dominating a Top 10 Oregon team, you didn't.
-You ranked TEMPLE and NAVY... I'm honestly speechless. You CAN'T be that big of an idiot, can you?

I know it's just the "Daily News" but who the hell hired you?

you seem completely incompetent at reporting on this type of stuff. you should just do a blog on soccer jerseys and college cheerleaders. SERIOUSLY, you SUCK!!!!

The Fiesta is required to select a team in the BCS top 14. Right now, Iowa is #10, and they play @ the Shoe next week. Penn State is #18, but would certainly move up if they can win out. It's an interesting rumor, but it's a bit early for any of these teams to be chartering flights.

You obviously don't read this blog much, do you. Scott's rankings have been the subject of AOL fanhouse posts and national blogs.

TCU vs Iowa might be the worst rated televised game in BCS history!

Pretty good chance that SW is just stirring the pot because many USC fans are hoping for an at-large Fiesta Bowl bid...

I live in Arizona and I understand the problem with picking the Trojans. SC fans won't come out for a week of spending at the hotels and resturants. They will come over maybe for a day or two. People from the cold weather areas want an excuse to get out of the cold.
On the positive, there must have been at least 1/4 of the crowd at the ASU game being SC fans. Hard to tell since both schools have similar colors. Many people will travel over for the Fiesta Bowl and many SC alums and transplanted Southern Californians live here. But is it a problem selling out the Fiesta Bowl? Also SC has to have much better TV ratings than some Mid-Western stiff.

Not travel to Fiesta Bowl in Phoenix? If choice is to play tOSU or PSU again, in another beat down in Rose Bowl, probably would do so to play TCU. Plus, bad economy, not too far to travel, plane, or car, good weather, change of scenery, given the options, and a bit of "Rose Bowl fatigue" Fiesta Bowl not a bad choice. If it is not the National Championship game, why not travel a bit to Phoenix? However, after last night, Rose Bowl is a definite possibility anyway.

Penn State just got beat down at home to tOSU yesterday and has two losses with zero quality wins.

Iowa will either be 11-1 and going to the Rose Bowl, or 10-2 (or worse) and licking their wounds in the Gator Bowl (or wherever Big X teams go to die). I seriously doubt a 10-2 Iowa team devastated by injuries would be a viable ticket to the Fiesta (although I hear they bring fans out in droves, the TV ratings would almost certainly be abysmal)

Sorry, Scott. The Big 10 is weak and will not be getting 2 BCS teams this year. If Iowa loses to OSU then thats it for them. Penn State already has 2 losses and they will be a third place team behind OSU and Iowa since they lost to both schools. A 2 loss team from the Pac-10 will be way more attractive than the second place big-10 school

hard to get sick of going to the rose bowl but I certainly welcome the opportunity of going somewhere else for a change to watch them play. I just pray its not San Diego or El paso.

Scott, In what gay bar did you hear that?

I'll go to Scottsdale in a heartbeat, while I would only go to the Rose Bowl if it were a good matchup. At this point, the Rose Bowl will be a terrible matchup with a horrid-looking Iowa, or a has-been Ohio St. The Fiesta would be awesome. I think more Trojans would travel than they realize. However, winning out looks like a longshot at this point. Time to overhaul the offense, PC.

DTWTrojan.......you miss the point. "I think more Trojans would travel than they realize." Of course the Trojan fans will come to the Fiesta Bowl. It's for how long they come that is the point. Probably most will come for 1 or 2 days. A team from the cold weather will come for a week. Think about how many Big Ten fans come out for the Rose Bowl.

True, TC. I wonder if the venue only cares about attendance, and lets the network worry about ratings. Surely the network can exert some pressure to get a higher rated game? Maybe not.

I just hope that the Big 10 doesn't offer a team that qualifies. I live here in AZ and would love to go to the game.
