Harbaugh On Heisman
Jim Harbaugh is not only a good football coach, he knows how to break down the Heisman Trophy race.
``Seems like a little bit of the Heisman is a lot of preseason hype, maybe it's 50 percent preseason hype, maybe it's 25 percent playing on the undefeated team and about 25 percent what they actually do.
``Hopefully the 25 percent of what Toby (Gerhart) does will get noticed. Because I think the `What you do part,' should be the determining factor.''

More and more, I like Jim Harbaugh because he is pure football. More and more, I like him because he's confident and a bit cocky, just like Pete. And more and more, I like him because he owns his mistakes. As a Trojan fan, I hated that he went for two, but I also love that he did it. Like John McKay said, if he was up 1998 to 0 on Stanford, he would go for 2. Next year, I'll like Harbaugh even more when we leave the starters in to drop 75 on him.
That said, Gerhart is a stud. He runs tall with quick, churning feet. He runs north and south. He punishes the tackler. He falls forward. He holds onto the ball quite well for how tough he runs. He would get my vote.
Would surely like to see Gerhart playing for the Trojans. But McKnight and Bradford could learn much from what they saw last Saturday. Stutterstepping, going wide most of the time, nonsense called losing yardage very often - we have to get out of that mode, and get back to north and south running, with an occasional out wide via the pass.
Maybe our OL is not up to the task, but time is limited and we need to find out in the next two or so weeks against AU and the b'Ruins, or I hear the emerald bowl might want to invite us.
