USC's special teams deserve scrutiny too, Matt Barkley says the loss, ``kills him,'' and former commit Vontaze Burfict is making an impact at ASU.

wow, Vontaze and Manti would've made a huge difference at OR...why are all the top LB's shunning Chetey Petey??in fact i believe it was Manti's crushing hit that put TE McCoy on the DL. that was the play where Manti did a Griffin-like muscle man pose right in front of the ref, but the ref chose to let it go. sweeeeeet.

Perhaps we shouldn't celebrate when a promising young player suffers a potentially career-threatening injury. That's not part of the game, and I tend to think neither USC nor Notre Dame is in the business of encouraging players to intentionally cause, or be happy about having caused, injuries to other players. Griffin and Manti were grandstanding a good play, not the injury. You're the only person celebrating the injury. Hopefully that's not what we can expect from UCLA fans or players either. Stay classy.

Hey CHUCK BUCK,

In case you weren't watching, following the USC-Notre Dame game TE Anthony McCoy played and scored a TD at home against Oregon State. Looked fine to me, so I'm not sure where that little pleasure is coming from that's making you think Teo hurt McCoy.

Ps. You sound like a little pussy.

USC Anteater...........consider the source.
I live in Arizona and Burfict is being compared to Ray Lewis. He came to ASU because SC felt they couldn't get him academicly approved. ASU has a good program for getting these kids approved by really working with them. ASU did the same for Ryan Bass who went to the same high school as Burfict.
Losing Burfict and Te'o along with Telfort's heart problem has really hurt SC with the way their linebackers are playing. Jones should be good in the future but he's only listed as 225 pounds (I believe only 210 coming out of high school) where as Burfict and Te'o are around 250. This is a critical area for recruiting.

Clearly Charlie doesn't watch football or else he would know that McCoy was hurt against OSU and not Notre Dame. In fact, McCoy almost single-handedly emasculated the Haggard Sisters of South Bend with his catches down the seams and an uncanny ability to stay on his feet and three or four of the Irish women clung to his jersey.

No, Teo didn't hurt McCoy. He didn't hurt him at all.

Agreed. There can be no doubt that not getting Te'o and Burfict was a major setback at linebacker. Both would likely be starting for SC.

Might I suggest that he and the other ruin trolls head over to their burning house and check out the latest family squabble with Trevor Theriot's father.
Go Huskies!

ok yes i am aware Manti didn't knock McCoy out of the game...but i did love the muscle man pose.

but lets not act too naive...you whiners probably never played at the high school or collegiate level but i have and it is a fact that a defensive player gets more kudos for knocking an opposing player out of the game than for a blocked kick, touchdown return or anything else. sorry to show you the stark reality of things, ladies.

We sure could have used Te'o but Burfict was an academic issue all along. Conquest, are you saying that ASU has "similar" academic standards as USC? I doubt it. I believe what really occurred is that no one at USC believed that even with significant assistance Burfict could have been helped. Look at our current roster, we still have several players who fade in and out with academic issues. It is well known that USC's academic standards have risen significantly over the past few years. It is unfortunate but couldn't risk a spot on this guy. Need to focus future recruiting at these spots, and we seem to be doing so. And focus on coaching.

SoCalMAB......Yes USC has tougher standards, but all the Div 1 teams have the same minimum standards. USC always has some players who they let in who aren't up to their usually standards. From what I heard, SC wasn't confident they could get Burfict to meet the NCAA standards. ASU made a real effort to figure out what needed to be done with summer school classes he needed to qualify. Again, they did the same for Bass who came from the same high school. If ASU could get him in, SC should have been able to. It's a shame, because this kid will be the best linebacker in the Pac 10 in another year or two.

I also wonder if they figured it just wasn't worth the effort considering the odds of him qualifying since they thought they had Te'o, Telfort, and Jones. Who would have thought that out of those 4 they ended up with just an undersized Jones.

Chuck Buck: Really? You are aware that Manti did not knock McCoy out of the game? Then why did you say that he did? So instead of calling you out for celebrating a player getting injured we should blame your high school coach for teaching you bad morals? I don't know if you've ever been to a football game but I have, and at USC when a player from the other team gets knocked out of the game most people clap out of respect, not because they're glad that he got hurt. It's called good sportsmanship. Sounds like you like to point fingers without thinking about your own attitudes.

oh pleeeeeeeease!!!

yes the players politely clap for a stunned opponent and rightly so....and then they pummel their guy who made the hit with high fives, low fives, side fives, slaps on the arse etc. and there is nothing wrong with that. except of course if someone is unconscious or has a possible neck injury. if this really bothers anyone, then i will post the UCLA Rowing schedule on my website: wah-wah-wah.com
