About Inside USC
Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC
graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for
the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet
message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this
moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in
antagonizing the "Internet geeks."

Do Matt Barkley's parents ever get creeped out by an almost 60 year old man like Pete Carroll expressing and gushing his never-ending love for their teenage boy?
Has Uona Kaveinga not advanced to the level expected? SC took him away from his original commit to Ucla but he never gets in to back up Galippo.
If you could start any QB among the young freshman in the Pac-10, who would you choose? (Nick Foles, Andrew Luck, Kevin Prince, Matt Barkley, Brock Osweiler/Samson Szakacsy, etc.)?
Mr. Wolf, what has happened to Barkley's production within the past few weeks? It seems that he was doing a decent up to the first half of the Oregon game and than he seemed to have lost it after the second half of the Oregon game up to now. Not sure if he is tired or hurt. Thank you in advance.
On FSN they show the best of USC and UCLA games around this time of year. They always show 1992, 1996, 1996, 1999, and 2001. How come they dont ever show the game from 2000? That is one of the all time classics.
With SC having problems with running or mobile QBs (Young, Dixon, Locker, Masoli, Luck), why hasn't Carroll recruited this type of player? I know he's expressed the concern of injuries with the spread with examples of Dixon and Locker. I don't expect SC to go to the spread, but why not have a QB who could take off when receivers are covered and get a first down like Luck did, especially on 3rd downs? I was hoping this was something Corp could do this year. Is Scoggins a mobile QB who could do this?
Do you see a scenario where Pete Carroll leaves his wife for Matt Barkley?
Scott,
Do you think that this seasons results would have been different if there was a real competition at the QB position this year. What was the point in naming AC the starter after spring ball he could have done what he did when Lienart, Cassell, and Hance were competing.

i read some rumors of teo manti being unhappy at nd and considering taking a mission and then transferring to sc or ucla...comments
Has Carroll spent more time this week with football related activities ( film study, game planning ) that his outside activities ( Twitter, Save A Thug )?
Is there a sequel for the bromance movie "I Love You, Man" being made called "The Pete Carroll and Matt Barkley"?
Let's pretend you're a UCLA fan on Saturday night at the Coliseum. What do you choose - paper or plastic - to cover your head in shame, and guard your identity, as you leave the Coliseum following another USC romp in Exposition Park?
Now that the Denver Broncos have lost 4 games in a row, and their O has fallen from #2 last year to #21 this year, who do you think they miss more...Jay Cutler or Jeremy Bates?
BTW, what's up with Cutler? He looks awful, lately.
Scott, I live and die with the USC-UCLA game. My hope is that the USC players realize what is at stake in this rivalry game (even though Carroll avoids too much build-up for any one opponent). I recall several years ago that a UCLA QB (Corey Paus, I believe) commented in a newspaper article that the USC-UCLA game was "just another game." He was from Illinios, and perhaps did not understand the intensity of the rivlary.
Here is my question: Do USC players, who are from out-of-state or did not grow up rooting for USC, generally suffer from a similar misunderstanding, and treat the UCLA game as "just another game," especially after the recent dominance exhibited by the Trojans in this series. Any thoughts you can provide are greatly appreciated. As always, thanks for the forum, Scott.
Serious question, nothing snide intended: Is ucla really a better team now than in mid season or do they look better for having played the two worse teams in conference (washington and wazzoo) followed by a multi-turnover give game from a disintegrating ASU?
How many points will we have to beat ucla by to drive all the trolls back to the cheesy jon gold blog?
with all the negative comments aimed at Matt Barkley this week, it may be a good time to recognize him for the one category he leads the Pac10 and possibly the nation in: Nicknames. by my count he has amassed 7 which is truly amazing given he is a true freshman:
Bark
MB7
Lil’ Pete
Golden Boy
The Pious Passer
The Blonde Bomber
The One
My question: did i miss any?
PC has made it clear that no one gets a shot at QB while Barkely is around. Given the low odds of playing time, Mustain might graduate and Corp might transfer. Green will be gone as well. Do you think PC has considered this possibility for next year's team, and if so, what is the back-up plan for a back-up QB?
You never finished answering all the questions from last open forum. Why has the special teams not plyed well despite having a special team coach?
Augustine, where has anything been made clear this year? BTW have you heard of Jesse Scroggins? Lakewood HS QB, he's on the way next year.
The only thing coming out of this year is that something has to change, whatever changed from last year changed for the worst.
What is the official word on UCLA wearing their blue jerseys this Saturday?
Powder Blue jerseys and a gold thong. FSC will assist the players with dressing.
What's the matter NOBS, mad that Gnossos didn't ask you to marry him?
Hi Scott,
Given what has happened the last few games, which of the following do you feel was the biggest reason for the teams success the previous 7 years; dominant defense, veteran/consistent play at QB or gamebreakers at the skill positions? Could SC win the PAC 10 next year if it only improves significantly in say one of these areas?
Scott,
which desert city do think is the worst place to visit?
indio, barstow, bakersfield, el paso
and which of those places has the scariest women?
Are you surprised Pete Carroll has not tried to place the blame on the losses against Oregon and Stanford on Aaron Corp?
Would you agree that Pete made a terrible recruiting decision when he chose Aaron Corp over Samson Szakacsy?
You know how before each football game, the captains of the USC football team walk towards center field for the coin toss while holding each others' hands? Have you heard if Pete Carroll wants to change that routine so that only he and Matt Barkley will walk on the field holding hands?
Scott,
Taylor Mays is not a finalist for the Thorpe Award. What did he do to actually be named one?
Scott, what odds would you place on the Trojans signing DE/LB Chris Martin (verbal to ND)? Seems like a player of Martin's caliber could get immediate playing time next year especially if Griffen goes pro.
Scott,
if matt barkley got knocked out by a water bottle, would he wake up in the hospital to pete caroll holding his hand???
Disregard my question above, the weekly press release states that both teams will wear home jerseys.
Do you think USC misses Ed Oreagon, Lane Kiffin, Nick Holt, and Steve Sarkisian for recruiting since it seems as though USC is not the force it was once in recruiting?
With Kennard being a potentially great move to linebacker for all concerned, and with additional linebackers on the way to help next year, do you think Michael Morgan should strongly think about a switch to strong safety for his future and the betterment of the USC team?
Scott, if forced to give it your best shot,[and I know from prior years that these type of questions aren't your favorite, but I'm hoping you'll bear with me], what odds would you post right now on SC having a top 2-3 consensus recruiting class next Feb.? Thanx for having the forums.
Do you think Joe McKnight staying next year will cause C.J. Gable and other running backs to enter the NFL Draft?
