Remember The Fans
Ever since the summer I complained about the ridiculous 7 p.m. kickoff for Saturday night's game. As Saturday approaches, I feel even more strongly about this. This game is the highlight of the season for a lot of fans on both sides. And it is being played in late November.
So why make everyone freeze when it would the weather is wonderful at 12:30 p.m. or manageable at 3:30 p.m. Even 5 p.m. is better.
The answer, of course, is money. And a bad Fox Sports telecast on top of everything else.

Kickoff at stupid 7 pm vs. broadcast of the game on Versus. I'll take the 7 pm kickoff thank you very much.
Speaking of, at least they're broadcasting the game. I tried to catch the UCLA game on Saturday on DirecTV and they did not have it available on any channel. Even a USC fan can see the injustice in a major cable provider not making one of our 2 local teams available to watch. Between this and their still unresolved issues with the availability of the Versus Network, College football fans should avoid DirecTV.
This game is usually the weekend before Thanksgiving. How many students have gone home for the Thanksgiving weekend?
If fUCLA would field a competitive team, perhaps ABC/ESPN would show it in a better time slot. If you look at the recent history, there have been a lot of USC blow-outs. The bRuins are not keeping its end of the bargain in this recently one-sided rivalry. Let's hope it stays that way on Saturday.
If you think it is bad for L.A. fans, how about Trojan fans back East, where the game starts at 10:00 p.m.
I was beginning to get soft about SUCLA, feeling sorry for them, but the SUCLA clan that comes on to this blog has only cemented the idea that SUCLA people have no class and deserve no sympathy.
And SC has a few surprises for these losers Saturday night. I
Ehhh. I will just drink more whiskey to stay warm!
Fans remember that Fox Sports has the rights to this game once every five years. This was the year they selected. Its normal national window is for a 7 p.m. (Pacific) start. So the "bad" Trojan season had nothing to do without this on the first three letters network. Nobody complained four years ago when the SC-Fresno State game started at 7:15 and was a great contest still talked about today. Besides, this isn't Pullman on a late November night!
I am so telling Petros what you said about his telecast! You will be punished Scott. Next time he has you on the show, he'll make you use the T-Pain iPhone app.
You're right on on each point. Petros is one sorry announcer and only an average waiter. The 7:00 start time is insulting and ruins a great tradition. I know money talks but I hope Fox had to pay extra for this. A lot.
Come-on SW it doesn't get cold in SC! I hate to ask this OFF topic question. If you watch ESPN early morning on week days Reischea Canidate reports the headlines. When did she attend USC?
Thanks
