Sunday Night With Caesar
Pete Carroll on the controversial TD call at the end of the game:
``I'm sure people on the other side will find a reason to be upset or whatever . . . Part of things as fans is people get to cheer for you and boo at you. They're entitled to their opinion and can do whatever they want.''

1) Taking a knee on 1st down was stupid if UCLA still had enough time outs to get the ball back. A knee kills the clock in 1 or 2 seconds while a conservative running play can eat up about 6 seconds. You run as much time off the clock as conservatively as possible. Taking a knee never requires the other coach to quit trying.
2) Loosing opposing coaches ALWAYS burn their time outs on D at the end if there is any chance however remote for 2 scores and a win. They know they are beat but they continue to do what they can. It allows them to keep trying till the end. It salvages a little dignity at a difficult time.
3) Lets assume for the sake of arguement that Rick was wrong in the time out - that makes it ok for Pete to go for a risky needless score?
4) It is plain bad strategy to inflame a beaten opponent. Most smart coaches bend over backwards not to do what Harbaugh and Carroll did. Revenge as gamblers know is a very potent emotion in rematches. USC and UCLA players will do a lot of extra push ups this summer thinking about their next meeting with Stanford and USC.
5) Even an overgrown kid like Pete ought to know that the gallant path is to walk gingerly around a fallen opponent. Is there anyone who doesn't think Pete would have looked better afterwards if he had said - "well, we got a little carried away there at the end and I hope Rick and his kids will accept my apology. They were a tough opponent and we have too much respect for them to kick them when they are down."
Whenever the miserable bRUINS cry foul, it's fair. And whenever the despicable fUCLA moans injustice, it's, well, justice. I've never seen such mouthy losers before. I guess that's how they vent when they lose. lol.

haha, neal. you must not have been on this board after the Oregon and Stanford blowouts. Talk about crying...
spedjones: No, you're mistaken, buddy. We Trojans have too lofty a standard to "cry" about anything. Most of us are harsh critics when we see things that are wrong about our team. Have you heard of something called 'constructive criticism'? Yeah, it'd be real crying for you since you must be so desperate to have just one of our many championships we've earned in our illustrious history. Don't know our history? Go to a local library, and study about it.
