Versus Conference News
From the Pac-10 office:
``The Pacific-10 Conference has retained the firm of Spencer Stuart to conduct a national search for the position of Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer. The newly-created position will report directly to Pac-10 Commissioner Larry Scott, with the person selected being responsible for managing many of the day-to-day operations of the Conference. The search is being headed by up by Jed Hughes of Spencer Stuart New
York. It is anticipated the new position will be filled by early 2010.''
Apparently the commish is too busy for day-to-day duties.

Mr. Larry Scott needs to understand that the Pac-10 isn't women's tennis. One has to hope this position is being created so he can spend every waking moment worrying about the Pac-10's new TV deal.
Hopefully it is not another clueless dweeb.
We need expansion now more than ever. A National Champ contender can never come out of this Pac 10 system with greater parity nor will we be competitive for getting bowl tie ins and optional bids.
The only way for ANY Pac10 team to play for the BCS title is to go undefeated. USC has only done this twice during the BCS era. One loss Pac10 teams get no respect nationally (see last year) due to the weak perception of our conference. The Pac10's round robin schedule and tough out of conference matches may win the "moral victory" but not any crystal footballs.
This needs to be addressed as a conference.
I think you previous posters are on the right track. Ever note how the SEC with split conferences, does not have to play everyone in their league each year? They replace those other teams with home games against weak sisters. Thus their records are inflated often leading to the winner of their championship game a lock for the NC game...Same goes with the Big 12! It's damn rare to have a NC game that does not at very least have an SEC/and or/Big 12 participant!
The Pac needs to add two more teams, divide the conference, and start adding weaker opponnents to buff up the W-L records with added home games against them! Then have a big strength of schedule boost with the Pac10 championship game at the end. Tell me that Boise,BYU,Fresno or Utah wouldn't jump to the Pac in a heartbeat?
