QB Stats
Here's the QB stats during the Pete Carroll era. Note these are actual season stats and not 7-on-7 stats like some web sites used earlier this year.
2009: Matt Barkley 12 TD and 11 INT*
2008: Mark Sanchez 34 TD and 10 INT
2007: John David Booty 23 TD and 10 INT
2006: John David Booty 29 TD and 9 INT
2005: Matt Leinart 28 TD and 8 INT
2004: Matt Leinart 33 TD and 6 INT
2003: Matt Leinart 38 TD and 9 INT
2002: Carson Palmer 33 TD and 10 INT
2001: Carson Palmer 13 TD and 12 INT
*USC still has two games left.

Very interesting...MB7's stats are almost identical to Carson Palmer's 1st year. There is hope!
If he throws 13 touchdowns against Arizona and 14 in the bowl game, he'll have done better than Matt Leinart. Not bad for a true freshman.
NW Trojan: 2001 stats were not Palmer's first year (although it was Carroll's first year).
Palmer was named the starting QB late in his freshman season in 1998. In 1999, he was hurt early in the season (3 TDs & 3INTs). In 2000, he threw 16 TDs and 18 INTs(!).
I think Barkley's TD-INT ratio will improve in the next two years before he presumably bolts for the NFL.
SWEET! At this rate, Matt Barkley will be as good or better than the young Carson Palmer!
HEISMAN! HEISMAN! HEISMAN!
The young man is ahead of schedule. Interesting to see that Matt Barkley has similar numbers to Carson, but as a True freshman vs Carson being a RS Jr. (or true Jr). It'll be interesting to see how young Barkley progresses. The experience he received this year has been invaluable.
Jimmy Clausen's true freshman year stats: 7 TD 6 INT, sacked 35 times.
Very similar to a young Palmer. Tried to force some throws and made some poor decisions. People have to remember, he is just a true Freshman. Even the messiah Tebow sat behind Chris Leak his Freshman year. I think MB7 will progress a little faster than Palmer and good thing are ahead. Did anybody really think that SC would be undefeated with a new QB and losing all that defense? The hard thing to swallow about the losses was the scores. I think it is about time Scott quits complaining and knocking the kid. It is getting a little tired.
SDPHIL - Well said! I couldn't agree with you more. It does seem strange to me that Wolf keeps finding ways to take swipes at this young man who has shown remarkable poise and character in his first year of college and stats that match up pretty well to former Heisman winner, Carson Plamer, but at a younger age than Carson and with far less experience. Jealousy maybe??? Who knows.
Wolf says the things he does for effect. It is similar to pro wresling, the XFL or shock jocks. Simers does the same thing.
Just and addition, do you guys remember the USC defense in 2001 and 2002 at Carson Palmer era: Shaun Cody, Kenechi Udeze, Mike Patterson, Lofa Tatupu (2002), and etc. He never had to score on every possession unlike Matt Barkley .
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Mentioning McBarkely in the same breath as Carson Palmer is laughable. Palmer was saddled with players who were no where near as good as the one's McBarkley has, a coach that had a playbook thicker than a Chinese phone book, too funny.
I am not saying that MB7 will be as good as Carson. I do think that he does have that potential. If I remember correctly, some people were not thrilled with the way Carson started off his career either. But as most players do, he matured and progressed as he went along. Hopefully Barkley will do the same.
