Here's one experience on purchasing Emerald Bowl tickets.

You can buy tickets to the Emerald Bowl through the official Emerald Bowl website, through a system that will allow you access to all price levels. You can see exactly where your seats will be, and there is a modest charge for the service.
Or you can buy through the USC Ticket Office. In which case you apparently do not see, in advance, where the tickets are, and are charged a higher fee.
Or. if you are a season ticket holder, you can pay a still higher fee ($35), for the right to buy tix. I assume the higher fee is because of the special delivery systems being employed.
Buying from USC helps the university with the allotment which one assumes it is contractually bound to sell. But why would one not opt for the cheaper, more convenient arrangement of buying directly from the Bowl?

The USC ticket office leaves alot to be desired, you never see where your seats are until they pick them for you. The whole experience is wanting, I use StubHub.

As a season ticket holder I asked the SC ticket office if I could buy Club level seats to the Emerald Bowl. I was told that those were only for donors. I then went to the Emerald Bowl website and the Boston College website where club seating was available with a very small handling fee. Why would I buy upper level nose bleed seats from USC and pay a $35 fee? CRAZY!!!
