The problem with Gruden (I'm a Raiders fan and love the dude) is that I think he'd be looking to the NFL the whole time he was at SC. It's better to get a guy who's content (or even prefers) the college game to the pro game. I'm not sure Gruden would fit that bill.

PERFECT, get them hired now, our coaching staff will be better than any since 2004! Get it done, Gruden would be stupid to not take this job, he can be a MNF announcer when he's 80, everyone who listens to him on MNF knows he wants to coach again...

No efforts for Whittingham? Recruits well in CA, gets the most out of his players, proven at the college level, big enough personality to hold his own in the LA media market.. No takers?

OMG - delusional if you think Gruden, Chow, or Eddy O are gonna be on staff. All for entirely different reasons are ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. Isn't Ed O still attending anger management classes anyways? Would he need a court order to be allowed to cross state lines?

Whittingham's good. I still like Petersen better, but I've read that Whittingham's interested. Since he's a BYU grad (spurned by his alma mater for the head coaching position), he might be inclined to hire another BYU grad who was spurned by his alma mater (a guy SC knows a thing or two about).

Whittingham would clean up our many crime blotter issues, that's for sure.

it is quite pathetic how Southern Cal is still pining for Chow...even most Bruins would not care if he left, but Southern Cal is so desperate now that Double Del Rio w/Beans has rejected his own alma mater (ouch!) they would seemingly get on their knees and beg anyone with a name to take the gig.
