Answer Thursday! (Part 5)
Is Lane Kiffin going to get more recruits than Pete Carroll would?

How many more recruits do you think Lane is going to lock up in this short amount of time? Is he going after more than what Carroll was?
A: I know he is calling recruits that told USC ``no'' when Pete Carroll was the coach. That does not mean he will get them but it shows he is throwing out a wide net to see what is out there. We won't know until signing date if he is successful. But the one thing Kiffin does is recruit all the time along with Ed Orgeron. Like I said earlier this week when grading the program, recruiting will be the strength of this program. Wide receiver Markeith Ambles, who originally committed to Tennessee, is someone to keep an eye on.

Does usc need to bring in a big name OC to get big offensive players recruits now that they blew it with chow?
A: I think it's a hard thing to get a big-name OC unless you let them call plays. And Kiffin wants to call plays. So I don't anticipate a big-name coordinator coming to USC.

STOP TALKING ABOUT "BIG NAME OFFENSIVE COORDINATORS." IT'S IRRELEVANT. OUR OFFENSE DOESN'T NEED TO BE STELLAR SO LONG AS OUR DEFENSE GIVES US BALANCE, YOU MORON.
Kiff will recruit better, and be our best HC/OC:
USC 2004 (Norm Chow as OC)
Record: 13-0
Scoring: 38.2 ppg
Total offense: 5838 yards
Offensive TDs: 61
USC 2005 (Lane Kiffin as OC)
Record: 12-1
Scoring: 49.1 ppg
Total Offense: 7537 yards
Offensive TDs: 83
Raiders 2006 (Art Shell)
Record: 2-14
Scoring: 10.5 ppg
Total Offense: 3939 yards
Offensive TDs: 12
Raiders 2007 (Lane Kiffin)
Record: 4-12
Scoring: 17.7 ppg
Total Offense: 4717 yards
Offensive TDs: 28
Tennessee 2008 (Phil Fulmer)
Record: 5-7
Scoring: 17.3 ppg
Total offense: 3225 yards
Offensive TDs: 22
Tennessee 2009 (Lane Kiffin)
Record: 7-6
Scoring: 29.3 ppg
Total offense: 4985 yards
Offensive TDs: 47
Good one, DWF. Peg UT's success (if that's what you want to call it) on Lane. I recall Charlie Tuna had a good year or two with recruits brought in by a prior staff...how did that work out?
There goes spedjones again making his denial of usc's superiority and lack of facts reveal his buffoonery. I think the previous post greatly shows how Kiffin has been able to effectively run an offense. Every time he has taken over an offense it has improved dramatically. I mean Norm Chow had the same personnel in 2004 as Kiffin had in 2005 and what a jump we made. I think his aggressive play calling will be a breathe of fresh air, and we should all be happy Pete Carroll is no longer here meddling with the offense (that's why our offense has suffered since '06) don't get me started on the socially inept jeremey bates. I think Mike Garrett made the best possible hire to keep the continuity with team. Once the ncaa comes out and just slaps usc on the wrist & we reel in a top 5 recruiting class lets see what else the haters will talk about.
Come on people, get a friggin clue. Kiffin is the OC. Just like Pete was the DC.
and we saw how well that worked out this year. Was it 55 points for the Furd?
I'm not sure, but I know that it was 7 for Fucla.
Yes, probably.
But only because he's an even bigger liar than Pete the Cheat.
It will help with this already great recruiting class, but next year's will be equally as bad.
Lane Violation is pathetic. Won't even let the kids sign scholarship agreements to back up his lies. Actually, I feel bad for the kids since they are the ones with something to lose...
Forgive me. I'm just a mediocre SC fan. For 60 yrs +/-. Let me make a bold prediction. At this time next year there will be, maybe 3 of you fools, maybe 2, who don't want lame kitty to take any j he is offerred. After all, he only averages 1+/- yr on each. And when he splits, voluntarily or otherwise, we will all give thanks.
MB7,
RE: USC 2005 (Lane Kiffin as OC)
Actually, ML was on the field OC. The players revolted after second game to use Chow's offense. Kiffin was OC in name only.
The loss that year was a result of bone head calls to not to kick field goals in ist half, bone head lateral play by a RB, and who ever's bone head play call at 4th and 2 in 4th quarter, and a DE/OLB that did not contain.
usc puts players in the nfl - that is the big draw
