He is not a candidate but if I were doing a search, I would immediately contact Gary Patterson of Texas Christian.

That'd be a great move. Having Patterson as HC and keeping Norton would really hold down the D. Then if they could somehow bring back Chow, our O would explode again.

That being said, it makes WAY too much sense for MG to actually do that. He still has a man crush on Mike Riley (a good coach in his own right) and he probably views this as his chance to get the candidate he REALLY wanted 9 years ago

Wolf - There you go again, you spelled it wrong, its not "Patterson" it "Petersen" as in Chris "Pete"rsen! We need another "big balls pete" in LA Baby! Come on Chris, your ready for prime time!!!!

@3rdandlong - agreed.

Wrong, Patterson is the coach of TCU. You might be confusing TCU with BSU.

@sobayquail - I wasn't confused between the two coaches I just prefer "Petersen" from BSU. I think he is the best coach (besides Carroll) to bring some much needed "balls" and swagger back to the program. For examples, see 4th quarter/OT of 2007 Fiesta Bowl and the 4th quarter (fake punt) in 2010 Fiesta Bowl. Balls!!!!

We need a "name" guy and one with NFL ties. Neither of those two cut it.

What's the thing with keeping Norton? THE GUY IS A F'ING STIFF!

I think we keep Norton for stability during recruiting season. I agree withcalkidd32 - let's get Norm Chow back in the mix. Heck, could he be the HC?

An name guy with NFL ties? What purpose does that serve? USC is the name here, the name of the coach is less important. SC needs a guy who can coach (and preferably not a guy who we have to worry about jumping to the League) and Chris Petersen is that guy. Anyone who has seen Boise State play knows what he brings to the table. And Peterson is much different than past BSU coaches who failed at bigger schools. None of those coaches had the kind of success that he's had there.

If Garrett wants to make a splash and work towards another decade of dominance, he'll go after Petersen.

And in publicly going after Mike Riley, MG had better make darn sure he's willing to make a move, because the worst thing MG can do is be publicly scorned by a candidate, thereby devaluing the job of head coach at SC.

Please MG, don't screw this up.

Here is a candidate with CFB and NFL ties:
Steve Mariucci
1. He was an assistant at USC.
2. He was a HC at Cal
3. HC at SF and Detroit
4. He's also a very good QB's coach.
5. He's also very charismatic like PC!

Mariucci? hahahaha What a joke. One word: CAL Wait, two words: Loser
Go back to flipping burgers at McDonalds.

What no one wants to address in all this coaching conversation is the fact that Bushgate still looms, and if you might be Riley, or any other coach in college ranks today, like a Petersen, etc., why step into a program which might have a 1-? year penalty attached to it, when by staying put where you are, you have no such issues.
Mariucci is a very interesting call NOBS, as would be Norm Chow, both not really being mentioned, but....

Ignorant people resort to things like that. Seeing you got on at 3am just proves McDonalds is staying open later. Dumb dbag.

Let's meet at your football seats, row 77 tunnel 1. Nice. Also, you forgot to add your unit to your weight. Let's see, that would make it 195lbs and .000002 oz.
