Point guard Mike Gerrity said USC's announcement on basketball sanctions was even more difficult to take because of the Trojans' eight-game winning streak and weekend sweep of the Arizona schools.
``To hear the news at this time is very different because the post-season was likely,'' Gerrity said.

It's disappointing news, but USC hadn't exactly punched their ticket to the NCAA tournament yet.

Hopefully, the team will fight on, and make the most of this season. The players are at a pivotal point in the basketball program's history. It would be great to see them embrace this, finish the season with a tournament-worthy team, and carry that hunger into next season.
