At least now everyone knows that Lane Kiffin will probably call plays next season.

Wolf - I heard from a reliable source that Mike Leach is interested in being OC....oh..wait...I heard it from YOU! How's the electrical room at HH?

My response to Chow returning to FUCLA: Whoop D Doo.

Sure Chow's had success, but since BYU the guy has had a real hard time, despite his success, working with people. And he hasn't really done anything since USC.

Recruiting is key. Kiff and EO will lock it up. No worries here.

oh well, it was worth a try. i think Lane is a better play caller compared to when he last called plays for 'SC in his last in 2006. Oh and way better play caller than bates.

i hope the bruins appreciate chow, because this looks like the last yr he will be with you. ucla has nothing to offer to chow other than the bottom of the barrel recruits.

NOTE: i'm pretty sure if Pete would not have left, Norm would've been here.

I hope Chow sent Lanie a few pages from his current playbook because the one that Lanie is using is from 2004 and it appears that the only pages that are still legible are the WR screens and naked bootleg, dump to the fullback.

I'm as big a USC homer as you will find on these boards. But without Chow, the Kiffin hire really loses a lot of luster.

Kiffin is like Rick Neuheisel times a thousand. Between Kiffin and Neuheisel, Los Angeles has become the Battleground of the Annoying Con Artists.

Come to think of it, I haven't heard any announcer rave about Norm Chow during a game or otherwise since the 2004 Orange Bowl game. Doesn't that tell us something about Norm Chow?

It's time to move on.

tomslyck Author Profile Page said:

I can't believe that Norm Chow was the only person that Kiffin would have trusted to call plays other than himself. I'm betting the search is still on for a first rate OC who will call the plays. Head Coach Kiffin would be better served to be the head coach, not the OC.

What is the fascination with Chow. Rode coattails at BYU. Bust at NC State. Bust with the Titans, Bust at UCLA. Successful at USC, where he again rode big coattails. Let the bRUINS keep him. Maybe they'll go 8-6 next year.

Good point, Dixie. L.A. certainly has the slimiest coaches in America now. I wouldn't let either of them watch my kids for 5 minutes.

I am laughing so hard my eyes are watering and I can barely type! LOL. Most of you SCumbuckets are now saying, 'Oh, well. Norm isn't that good anyway.' Yesterday, most of you were saying, 'Gotta get Norm of the LAME hire is a bust!.'

Typicall TrOJans. The real bottom line is you wanted Norm back badly to make up for Garret's quick decision to hire LAME-skul, his Dad and Oreo.

R.I.P TrOJan Football.

If you think Norm was riding coattails, watch the offense in the BCS game against Oklahoma. I was fortunate be at that game, and it was incredible. (Defense was great, too.) The whole crowd roared when Norm came down onto the field from the coaches box.

I don't care about his record with the Titans or UCLA. I am NOT a NASCAR fan, but with the TItans, it's like taking Jimmie Johnson and sticking him in a big rig - just a totally different animal. With UCLA, it's like putting him on tricycle (with their poor talent - esp. QB). With SC, it was the perfect fit. Norm can take lemons and make lemonade. But he's got to have lemons, not a bunch of dried prunes. In my opinion, he resurrected Carson Palmer's career. What did Carson do under Hackett?

Maybe I'm wrong and Norm's past his prime, but I'd rather have had the chance to be proved wrong.

That said, he's not coming, so fine. Can't blame him for not wanting to work for Lane. Ready to move on...and back the next guy to kick UCLA's a**.

The only thing cheering me up in this whole Kiffin debacle is the knowledge that Fucla will always be the poop under the Trojans' collective shoes.

While it really would have been great to get Chow back in the fold, I think it would help to get better receivers and upgrade the passing game. I know we were spoiled with the likes of Williams, Smith and Jarrett etc. but let's face it, Damian Williams -- with occasional help from McCoy -- was IT. And in JDB's senior year, it was pretty much Fred Davis and Sanchez didn't get much help. Stanley Havili was lifesaver for MS. I realize that Kiffin runs the same pro-style offense as PC and not the Run and Gun, but the QB coach from Texas Tech, Lincoln Riley, was fired today by Tuberville. Seems to me he developed some nice QB's at Tech.....just a thought. Also, at Tenn., Crompton was awful as a Jr. This past season, he at least improved to mediocre under Kiffin.

MazioR Author Profile Page said:

Dawg - good point! We were lucky to have Damian fall into our lap. I think SC that they did get the talented receivers in Patrick Turner and Vidal Hazelton, but those guys didn't live up to expectations.

I do like Brice Butler. He seems to have a lot of potential. And Ronald Johnson is good but needs some development. They need to get a route-runners like Keary C. and Steve S.

Let's hope the experiment with the 5-tailback rotation is over with.

Bottom Line is:

USC has upgraded its coaching staff, and there WILL BE more to come.

The bRuin football team, well, they're the bRuins LMAO! - its always a bitter pill to swallow when it comes to USC Football.

I look forward to our dominate ways - come 12/04/10

Fight On!

You can tell Kiffin's a sh*t hire, it's attracted all the flies from UCLA. Seriously, does anyone give a rip about UCLA anymore? There's so much better competition in the Pac 10...nobody even talks about UCLA anymore. Shoo fly, don't bother me.

Constantine Author Profile Page said:

...isn't that what we're all worried about? That Lane Kiffin is actually the USC head coach, that he'll be calling plays next year, and that there's no secret OC guru coming to sweeten this bitter pill?

WRSC Author Profile Page said:

I was hoping for Chow to ditch westwood. However, it doesn't change the continued domination over ucla. Chow, under Neu-Weasle with 2 star offense, can't do much at ucla whereas at SC he'd look like an offensive wizard. That's why all these Ruins on this board keep harping on possible NCAA sanctions and not football. Regardless, come Dec 4th, we'll hand another beatdown to the ruins with or without Chow. With or without Pete, for that matter.

so, inept, Master Jedi Chow is now, hmmmm?

herh herh herh.

everything, the Dark Side clouds.

impossible to tell, the truth is for USC i sense.

out of his depth, padewon Kiffin is.

@ Ultimate Bruin - The sad thing is, now we will never really know if Norm Chow would be a good OC or not...which is unfortunate as I truly feel that all of the college football world was wondering if he could be an effective OC at a division 1 CFB program. I guess will never know. Sigh:>(

@ Wolf - STFU!!!
