Yep, that's Lazy Mike Garrett for ya!

Of those three, I think Mike Riley is the safest bet. The only questions would be his ability to bring in top recruits, and assemble a top defense (which I believe he could do if he could recruit talent defensive talent like Carroll). His offense is similar to USC's current offfense, and better suited to the college game.

The only downside with Fisher is his unfamiliarity with the college game. At best, I think he'd get of to a slow start like Pete Carroll. At worst, he might never make it if he didn't have a guy like Chow at his side.

I love Jack Del Rio as a Trojan, but I've never really been that impressed with him as a coach. JMO.

Ed Oregeron. Great recruiter, great motivator, knows SC, got run out of Miss after he built the recruiting base. A perfect fit. And he'd be smart enough to keep and promote Ken Norton.

NONE of them. Lets court Chris Petersen from Boise St. The guy is young, energetic, almost half of his recruits are from SoCAL.

Why would Riley leave Oregon State? Seems to me he is already doing well there and the academic standards aren't very high so bringing in players shouldn't be a problem...

I don't think Riley is leaving OSU after already leaving once. It seems he has a tremendous amount of loyalty towards his Alma Mater and is grateful for the second chance they gave him.

I really think Chris Peterson would be the best choice. And if he could hire Coach O as the defensive coordinator and Norm Chow (no more Titans money and his daughter attends SC) as the offensive coordinator, I think we'd be okay.

Bringing in a coach from the NFL normally doesn't work well at the college level,(recent example: Charlie Weis) okay, we had success with Peter Perfect. However; Pete is a good organizer in as much as he put together a very good staff. Pete hung his hat on the staff, that is what has made his tenure at SC successful. Of course he acquired some very talented players from the previous staff and had Coach 'O' doing the recruiting. As the staff changed/left the difference in the play of the team was obvious. Pete really plays up the 'Compete Forever' mantra but this and the previous season has shown his hypocrisy, you only play if Pete wants you to.

There are many possibilities for a replacement. I'll list below:
Oh! and Yes, Mike Garrett needs a vacation as well.

Doesn't matter who USC gets to replace Carroll. They are still going suck for years to come. Petey was a once in a lifetime coach who had great success due to his swagger and salesman approach to recruiting.

I pray that you guys hire Chris Peterson. That guy is a goober and an overrated tool who won't do anything at USC. Or hell, hire baby faced Mike Riley and be a middle-tier Pac10 team like Oregon State. Either way, you guys are going to be HORRIBLE from here on out.

Lets face it we are so F*CKED right now. Everyone is leaving us like we are frickin Dodge or something. The NCAA must be close to smashing us to bits with sanctions. I've never seen so many people running from one place at one time. It's truly sad.

Okay, Ultimate Ruin, why don't you go ahead and lay out all of the "sanctionable" transgressions committed by members of this coaching staff or by boosters. As far as I know, all allegations involve perspective agents trying to poach players away from SC, not SC-affiliated groups trying to lure players here.

The allegations against the football program are totally different than the allegations against the basketball program - allegations that did result in self-imposed sanctions.

Funny thing is, even if Carroll leaves (probable), USC will still beat the gutless little bRUINS (definite) on the football field in 2010 and years to come. UCLA used to pride itself as a basketball school - now, it sucks in both football AND basketball! Just watch what happens in Pac-10 hoops this season - USC again will get the best of Howland's gang that can't shoot straight from Westweird. Rumor has it, the LAPD is contemplating charging every member of the UCLA basketball team with a misdemeanor for all those bricks they keep throwing up at Pauley Pavilion! (DragQueenOvic can help his buddies find a good attorney, so now worries there.) Another theory is that the gutless little pukes think they are helping with the Pauley Shore Pavilion renovation project by throwing brick after brick inside that ancient LA eyesore. Jeff Fisher should be the head coach and Norm Chow the OC. Fisher does not have to know the College game because Norm knows it very well.

All Fisher needs to do is do what "The Ego" could not do. Make our Def Players better and build a stronger attacking Defense. He and Norm have no Ego and only care about winning with out style points and he is smart enough to keep Norton and bring back Coach Orgeron since it seems like he is ready to come back to SC after "The Ego" ran him off and don't forget about Kennedy Pola as well.

These gentlemen will add toughness and bring back the championships. Forget Mike Riley!!!! or Remember the Hackett days. He is not the answer. We need some who can take us to the next level not keep us afloat.

They should have hired Bill Cowher. He has an Identity and a blue print that works and he can change the Soft-reputation that the Seahawks have around the league. He's a better fit. Petersen.............my first choice. Dirk Koetter (ex Boise coach who failed at ASU) was asked before the Fiesta Bowl if he regretted leaving Boise. He was very honest when saying that Boise probably wouldn't have had the same success with him. Koetter is an x and o's guy with no personality. Hawkins took them to the next level but Hawkins had Petersen. Petersen is loved in Boise. I just worked this week with a guy from Boise and he said that Petersen is as classy as they come.

My First thought was ..easy..Get Mike Leach..He lived in the Valley for a while..
