I would like to see NC come, but even if he doesn't, Kiffin calling plays would be an upgrade from Bates. I remember the offense being pretty good in 2005.

I for one am glad he is staying. I believe we can find a younger, better coordinator. Chow has had limited success since he left and I have no reason to believe he can re-create the magic of years ago.

It would be the same old pressure of "win every game" if he came to USC. I wouldn't blame him for taking early retirement and staying at UCLA. Lower expectations can be very calming.

Norm Chow reportedly has been offered the head coaching job at Tennessee. Stay tuned to an official announcement!

That's right, trolls. ESPN's reporting that Norm has made a decision so it must be a done deal. No way they could be wrong ... or worse, being used by Norm's agent. Is there?

I believe Scott when he says that Norm is discussing the job with USC right now. I suspect that Norm is actually on campus. I believe that he will strike a hard bargain and in the end USC might not be willing to give him what he asks for. I believe that ESPN's report was a tactical strike to set the stage for the discussions. I believe that no matter what happens, UCLA fans will paint USC in a negative light over this. If Norm stays at USC it's because he has integrity and USC was evil for trying to tempt him. If he comes to USC it's because USC is evil and just bought him off "the way they buy off everyone".

When you've got nothing else, making a false claim for the moral high ground is all you can muster.

I do remember it. I hate to say it, but the bRuin defense was actually decent last year. Remember, the game was early in the year and Crompton had not progressed to where he was later in the year. They were also still learning the playbook at that point and Tenn. doesn't have the athletes USC has. I don't think Kiffin is the best OC/playcaler in the world, but he is an upgrade from last year. Also, all the people that criticize him for the 4th down call vs. Texas, Lendale White did every thing but come out and say that it was Pete's call not Kiffs.

Somebody inform Wolf that the entire world except Wolf knows that Chow is staying at SUCLA.

Lane Kiffin is a wunderkind. If not Norm, then I am confident that SC will find another accomplished QB coach. But, Lane is an OC, so we have already vastly improved on offense. Lane Kiffin = PC2!

SDPhil - did you watch UT get blown out by VT in their bowl game? Tennessee looked terrible. Granted the Hokies are solid, but that game was a joke, even with Ryan Williams hobbled by a bum ankle. UT's offense didn't even show up in the 2nd half. Duke played the Hokies better than Lane's squad.

SC is a football school that's where it puts it money and ucla is basketball school that's where it put there money. As over time has proven that they are dominate at their respective sports. USC-Has the Reggie Bush and Joe Mcknight Scandal, UCLA has Sam Gilbert scandal. Either way time will pass whether usc is on probation or not and remain the power in football and the same with ucla being the power in basketball.
