Norm is dumber than I thought. Does he have better QBs to work with at Fucla? No. Have they beaten SC? No. Have they ever won a NC? 1/2 in 1954. He is stupid. Or asked for too much money and SC told him to shove it. One or the other. RIP Norm Chow. (or just maybe he's going to Seattle)

Not helpful for SC, but not a good move for Chow either. He's just hitched his wagon to a program that's going nowhere. In a few years when UCLA has failed to be the program that everyone in Westwood hopes it's going to be, Chow will not be able to demand the money he can now. His best years will be the ones he spent at SC, under Carroll, and there won't be anywhere for him to go but down. Not bagging on Chow, that's just the way I see it.

The only good news is that we'll still be able to rout the Ruins because nobody wants to run around in their pansy baby blue uni's and go to a second rate school. Still, we could do a whole lot better than "Lance Kiffin".

This could turn out really bad for us. But it could also turn out pretty good, particularly if the recruiting class stays somewhat intact. (Prater/Baxter/Scroggins re-committed or indicated strong interest regardless of Chow's decision.) Although I hated kiffin as OC, he will be an improvement over Bates (I can't believe I just said that). With Monte/Oregeron, Defense can be same as it was in from 2004-2008, or maybe better. Orgeron will bring more discipline, so hopefully fewer penalties.

On the other hand, Kiffin could continue to be an ass, make a fool of himself and the program, and drive the program into the ground.

On other words, without Chow, this hire was a HUGE gamble. Should be a wild ride...

Let's hope this is not because:

A: no one of substance wants to work with LK and/or
B: NC knows about the upcoming sanctions and felt his current job was better considering all of the factors.

I fear we are going to rue this day years from now...

In my estimation Chow's stock has dropped significantly since leaving USC; he is not the miracle worker that some believed him to be. I think he has an inflated opinion of his self worth. Not to mention that there may be some personality issues between CLK and him.

Good luck to him and the bRuins; it is time for us to move on.

There are lots of other young, ambitions and talented offensive coordinators out there that will no doubt jump at the opportunity to join the premier program in college football. Fight On!

Isn't "one" twice as many as Fucla has? I think SC has accomplished more in the past decade than Fucla has accomplished in it's history. (three times as many Heisman winners, four times as many AP Titles, probably matched the number of conference titles, etc)

Maybe Norm Chow realizes that the past is the past. The Pete Carroll era was the Pete Carroll era. UCLA has more potential and better coaching that USC has, period. He knows USC is never going to be the same as it was in 2004-2005. Pete Carroll knew it too and he bolted.

API had UCLA as NC in 1998. So we have 1/2+1/3=5/6 WTF??? We counting every single poll that exists? Human, writers, coaches, computers, pop warner coaches, avon lady.....
After BCS was formed in 1998, none of the polls matter except BCS. I think BCS is Bullshit and SEC is crap, too. However, unless there's a playoff, we are all stuck with BCS. BCS Title is all that matters. I think even you Trojans agree with me on this one.

As for UPI in 54, I don't consider it a true NC. It's the same eastcoast bias that still exist today. SEC bias definitely kept you guys out of BCS Title game a couple times but it's the system NCAA and conference presidents agreed on. So nothing besides BCS matters. Just like pre-1998, AP was the only releveant poll. At least to me.

Blessing in disguise. Chow, who Ricky didn't like, is staying at fucla and not getting Rick Leach. I would have been worried if they had Leach as the OC. Play calling got worse when Kiffin left and Sark was left alone. I will say I almost forgot how bad Sark was because Bates was twice as bad.

Norm Chow, or Not... Sanctions, or Not... the fUCLA bRuins will receive their annual beat-down at the hands of the Almighty Trojans on 12/04/10.

Norm Chow might have made some great decisions in the past, but it looks like he's losing it. He should have realized USC is the place where he could make himself shine through the fertile soil of talent. Did he do magic in Tennessee or for the bRUINS? No. Will he bring back his old magic? No. One thing is for sure, and it's that he'll never really have the spotlight he's had up until now. It looks like it's going to be a pretty steep downhill from here, Norm.
