Good for Corp. In my opinion, he didn't get a fair shake at SC. MB's numbers proved he perhaps should have sat a year and didn't he admit he wore down quite a bit towards the end of the year, at least mentally?

I hope the best for Corp. I suspect that he wasn't given a chance to compete. Since its Pete's mantra, it is doubly discouraging that this is case. Certainly, considering the number of interceptions that the freshman had, it should have been an opportunity for another QB...but sadly, that didn't happen.

Obviously, this is the lowest point of Pete's SC tenure. I've seen worse at SC...but it usually preceded a change at head coach. If Pete's next year is like this, he should kiss his $4M/yr goodbye.

Corp will actually get to compete in an NCAA football playoff to determine a National Champion!

Bambi has left his opportunity to prove himself. I wish him well, but look what happened to Emanuel Moody, greener pastures?

Sorry Aaron there are no love triangles here. The gay love affair between Pete & Barkley continues.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Fcorp. Marky, how dare you disparage the name of Rocky Hinds.

Not surprised. I was hoping SC would finally have a QB who could run. He looked terrible in the Washington game and the excuse by Wolf that the poor baby didn't know he was going to start was weak.

Have to admit: Pete is a creep.

NOBS........"Pete is a creep"? I don't get this. Shouldn't a coach make the decision about who starts? Obviously he wasn't confident with him when Sanchez left, and Corp did nothing to change his mind at the Washington game. I'm sure the assistant coaches had imput also. Just because you're recruited doesn't give you the right to start.

TC- Look, Pete preaches like he's a player's coach, which he is. Ur right in some of your comments about the UW game and recruiting, but Pete should have been a little more upfront with Corp. BTW, I didn't want Corp either, but I'd at least told him where he stands. I don't think he got that. Pete should have bigger balls and man up.

I agree Pete is a c****. He never seemed to like Corp... It appears to me he never attempted to set him up for success and wanted him to fail from the beginning! Poor Corp had to take off and start over... His comment about Corp was unacceptable! Not appreciated at all. Not nice Mr Pete, not nice...

The way Pete Carroll stuck with Barkley even when he was clearly costing the Trojans game after game, shows how phony the "competition" mantra is at USC.

What will be the result? First, we won't get the better recruits because they can see it really doesn't depend on how well they do in practice.

What else? It means we will have another freshman QB next season. Why? Barkley will get hurt, Corp and Mustain will be gone, and Jesse Scroggins will be all that is left. In other words, from the best stable of QB's to the worst, in one short period of undeserved favoritism.

Remember Kevin Craft's first year? Get ready, soon-to-be fellow ex-Trojan fans.

i am floored by chetey's comment about this (from LAT):

Carroll said he was happy for Corp. "He'll get a chance to play right now," Carroll said. "I think it's a big statement about Matt Barkley."

say what? what statement is Corp making about Barks by transferring, chetey? one can only infer chetey thinks it validates his opinion that Barks is the superior QB.

chetey was always a sputtering clown, but at least he used to try for integrity. his obsession for Barks has turned him into a classless jackass. wow.

Darky,
I am in full agreement. I can't seem to forget the vision of how JB was ignoring AC during the Wash game. The cameraman just kept shooting these scenes. It was apparent during that game that AC did not have their support. Then later they proved it. What happened to AC at USC will go down as one of my saddest memories. This is 100 times worst then sitting MS sophmore season behind JDB.

Wow – all the criticisms of last season have been confirmed even for the most brain dead. In-between politically correct statements about Corp transferring, Pete has to slip in another classless low blow by pimping up his mini-me MB. What a stupid public comment. We kept saying Corp was getting screwed, but the bobo brainers kept saying it was all UW even when little pete went out and did the same things!

Eventually we may learn what this is really all about, there’s got to be more to all this aberrant coaching behavior. But for now this fiasco has destroyed team cohesion as we saw from this season sputtering to a grinding halt and starts next season’s prep with a dark cloud and whole bunch of USC players asking WTF is going on with the coaches. Yuck.

Oh my god, everyone is acting like this is the biggest tragedy, and USC is tarnished, etc. Seriously? This will have zero effect on recruiting and zero effect on the coming seasons. UCLA recruiter: "Hey top prospect, don't go to USC because look what happened to Aaron Corp." Top prospect: "Who?" Did Emmanuel Moody's transfer for not being given a "fair chance" deter running back prospects? Hell no.

One player on the entire team did not start and transferred. Big deal! It happens all the time, and there's no right to play. He had a chance and is simply not starting quarterback material at a top program. And I went to practices, the spring game, and the Washington game.

I liked Corp and thought he would be fun to watch, but he has a weak arm, is undersized, and does not have the "it" factor. And to people who say that he looked better than Barkley in practice at times, are you forgetting he had three years in the system where Barkley was in his first?

I don't think less of Pete one bit; he made the right choice in the long run in picking Barkley--perhaps not in the short run, but having Corp at quarterback all year would not have changed our win/loss record one bit and everyone knows it. Good luck Corp, you're a class act and a hard-worker. It just didn't work out at USC.

Marky Marc,

Right on bro. You nailed it. One other point, with all the playing time MB garnered, he will be that much better for the team next year, rather than sitting on the sidelines watching this year. Mark my words, he will be a different player next year.

If you watched the UW game, you saw AC's passes, some came up short of the target. Weak arm, maybe, did we utilize his strength, probably not, was he a perfect fit for the program, definitely not?

When I first heard AC was coming to 'SC, I wondered if he was big enough. But in the time he was here, he grew up and filled out. I had hoped he would get his shot, he did get an opportunity and I say he blew it. Many of you said he blew it. I also think that game changed him, he just didn't seem to have confidence or a swagger about him anymore. Who is at fault? I can't say, probably his and the coaches share some. Water under the bridge, all our chatting and bickering won't change the fact that AC is a Spider now, good luck to him.

I also say that Sanchez leaving changed Pete's thinking about the season. He knew his QB's better than any of us ever would, so why not get the new kid some playing time. Sacrifice this season for the next few.

Plenty of players have left USC for other schools and even the NFL. 'SC will survive as WE ARE 'SC!

corp had his chance at washington and earned 1st string on the bench forever

everyone knows pete would never give him a second chance

he did the right thing if he wants to get on the field, although he may not even beat out whoever they have over there

mitch can back up in 2010, but in 2011 if barkley takes a hit, the usc offense will look like texas last night (and they sort of did in 2009)
