So Monte Kiffin, Ed Orgeron and Norm Chow will join Lane Kiffin at USC. I spoke to Chow on Tuesday before the announcement and he confirmed USC approached him to become offensive coordinator.

So, Let me see if I got this straight
1. We get the best O.C. in the country
2. We get a legend as D.C.
3. We get a great recruiting team of Kiffen and Orgeron
4. We salvage/improve an already good recruiting class
5. Can you imagine Norm Chow with Matt Barkley?

WOW!!!

USC-Holmey Author Profile Page said:

That's OK. UCLA fans didn't like Chow anyway. He was too smart for them, I think.

Troy's Hair would like to take a break from his between washing and conditions to say - WOW!

If LK can stay clean and the sanctions aren't too severe then BCS champs is not too far off.

Love PC...but how much did the coaching staff just improve? Beano Cook rules!

SoCalMAB Author Profile Page said:

Let's hope that Chow takes the job, if so, from lemons we have made a big batch of terrific lemonade.

HOT DAM! If this trifecta comes about... what other college football staff is going to top it in the 3 areas of recruiting, coaching & winning? I don't know how Mike Garrett did it, maybe he made a deal with the devil the way he was going the last few days. He has got to be the luckiest man alive if Chow joins in. What a rebound...

Mmmmmmmmm! Lemonade! In a crystal football!

Hey Ruins...what ever happened to that highly-touted "three headed monster"?

And what does the "L" in UCLA stand for?

Use the force wisely, Lane. Use the force...

I do not want to gloat right now but i will go right ahead and will. Did i not say have faith in Mike Garrett, could you have imagined upgrading from dePlete and screwing UCLA, and ESPN via the SEC in the process... How do you feel now...

Lane couldn't get out of Knoxville fast enough. I wonder why he even did that 'press conference'.

OCTrojanFan Author Profile Page said:

Still waiting for the Wolf post on how he predicted all of this 6 years ago.

Brettm Author Profile Page said:

Could you see the relief in Kiffin's eyes at the press conference? It looks like the weight of the world was just lifted off of him. Time to come back to La La land. Welcome home Coach Kiffin.

The Board of Trustees fingerprints are all over this and maybe Pete's.

I'm pumped, jacked, and stoked! The only way this could be better is if Carson and Chad retire next year after winning the Super Bowl and come coach QBs and receivers. Chad could be an honorary Trojan. I, for one, look forward to smacking down UCLA and then playing Rocky Top all night long!

Rich K Author Profile Page said:

Nice job Scott you had them frothing for a few days. What about Pat Ruel?

gilligan Author Profile Page said:

Does anybody know who is staying from the current staff with Kiffin? My guess would be McNair, Ruel and maybe Morton. Thank you in advance.

BoscoH Author Profile Page said:

and Brennan Carroll.

Let's not count our chickens before they hatch...Chow has been approached, but it isn't confirmed yet. Norm, we need you!

Chad Author Profile Page said:

Thanks, Nick. I'll be sorry to see Ruel go, but Davis is top-flight.

calkidd32 Author Profile Page said:

update on Chow anyone? i hate premature reporting. it's about getting it right, not getting it first. it would really bum me out if Chow wasn't joining the staff

nickUSC Author Profile Page said:

same source above that gave the tim davis info said chow was confirmed. this is a solid source.

maybe contract is not signed and sealed...

Chad Author Profile Page said:

Nick, get it signed, and beers are on me.

GET CHOW NOW!!!!!

SoCalMAB Author Profile Page said:

Oh Puhleeez: If it takes NFL money to bring Chow back, PAY IT. It is a drop in the bucket compared to losses in ticket revenue, bowl games, booster commitments, TV money, is there even a question? I for one am renewing my tix and C&G membership pronto.

About Inside USC

Scott Wolf has covered USC for the Daily News since 1996. A USC graduate, he covered his first Trojan game in 1984 for the Daily Trojan. Scott is known as the "scourge of the Internet message boards," according to radio host Petros Papadakis. Despite this moniker, there's no truth to the rumor he takes pleasure in antagonizing the "Internet geeks."
