Edwards?
Herm Edwards is being mentioned as a candidate for the USC job. In NFL circles, he is not viewed as an X's and O's genius (which was Pete Carroll's calling card nine years ago) and was not a proven winner. I'd be a little nervous if I was a USC fan over this one.
Why be nervous over this ??? .....Instead of focusing on Competition Tuesday as the pinnacle of the week, we would actually PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!!!!

edwards is a clown and one of the worst coaches in the business.
Edwards would be a disaster! I hope that this is nothing more than a political correctness move.
We need an exciting upbeat innovator...like a Leach, Peterson, Patterson type. The guys at BYU and Utah are also live wires imho.
I think I am in the minority about hiring Edwards for the USC job. This guy has the potential to be a great recruiter and my guess is that he is best suited for the college game instead of the NFL.
One thing to remember is that none of his teams gave up on him and even some of the current Jets players talk highly of Edwards. Another plus is that the NY media enjoyed talking to this guy and that is saying a lot considering that the NY media has some of the biggest divas.
Edwards would be phenomenal. He is the ONLY guy who doesn't look and act like he is sucking lemons. Coordinators (as PC shows) do all the work, Head Coaches are the guys that seal the deal with recruits, talk on the rubber chicken circuit, and run the program from a motivational and directional stand point.
His background in California (despite being a Cal guy) and his successful playing career and his head coaching experience are great for him.
The negatives are that while he was an excellent position coach who really jumped the ranks too quickly. Or some would say his thing about loyalty to a chosen QB was by any standards pathological. Pennington and Green were like his wives or something. Even when Pennington couldn't move his arm and Green had a couple of concussions and both sucked to pieces he stuck with them. It really caused management to tamper, pushing top draft pick Croyle in way too early. Aaron Corp fans would love him. hahaha

Why should I be nervous, this guy would thrive in this environment. If I were the AD he would be my first choice. He has tons of experience at the next level and would provide the tools necessary to keep this train rolling.
remember trojan fans you were the exactly people that whined when pete came to town and now like a bunch of spoiled brats you are crying his departure. give me break and grow up.
