Fisher Hat Trick

By my count, Jeff Fisher's not been interested in the USC three times (1998, 2001, 2009).

So maybe the school and its administration need to stop asking. Fisher is an NFL coach and belongs - rightfully so - in the NFL. Can we PLEASE Scott, move on to advocating DeWayne Walker or someone else who could or should be a viable candidate so we can stop the bleeding to this year's recruiting class? PLEASE Scott, please no more talk about Mike Riley, Jeff Fisher, or Herm Edwards.

First, I don't know anything about contracts or extensions...but OSU's AD DeCarolis said yesterday they would put together a "lifetime contract" which apparently was only a 3-year extension. Does that mean there may be some chance 'SC could still lure Riley from OSU??

To be fair, Jeff Fisher had the same job all three times USC came a callin'. There aren't too many NFL head coaches who would give up their jobs to come back to college.

The person MG needs to be going after is Chris Petersen. As incompetent as MG appears to be, he still needs to make it happen!

Dewayne Walker just went 3-10 this year. If he's being considered for anything other than a defensive coordinator position, shoot me now.

USC should be on the phone with Bob Stoops, offering him $6M a year to come on over and start beating the snot out of his brother.

Greg04,

It's basically a liftime contract because for every year that OSU become bowl eligible, the term of the contract rolls over for another year.

The 3 yr extension gets Riley's deal to 2019. If OSU win 6 games next year, the contract is then extended to 2020 and so forth.

Also, in 2019, Riley will be 65. With any roll over years, he's basically staying put at OSU as long as he wants

If not Petersen then get Kyle Whittingham. He beat Alabama last year in the Fiesta Bowl.
The question is why a Petersen or Whittingham who have sweet deals would want the uncertainty to come to SC? Petersen only has to play 2 good teams every year.

Fisher couldn't have any more job security than he already has and he's a low-key "NFL professional" without the rah-rah needed to recruit on Pete's level. Let him remain in the NFL, where he represents us well as a USC alum. Del Rio would be better. A defensive-minded, former linebacker of a coach with the charisma and without much job security, who has expressed interest in coming home. Add Norm Chow (who is already leaving ucla after 2010, because the bruins can't pay him what he's really worth once he stops collecting checks from his old Titans contract) and we're right where we were in early 2002 ... "just getting started."

baskeball program deep in the crapper, football program headed down the crapper...at least Southern Cal can fall back on the integrity of the Baseball program, right? wrooooooong! now with McGuire admitting he was a drup doping cheater in setting all those "records" does anyone dispute that Southern Cal is the dirtiest program in the USA?

Southern Cal is now up there with the Bulgarian women weightlifters, the East German swimming team and the Chinese gymnsasts, synonymous with unrepetant, blatant cheating. oh, mercy nurse!!!

fucket....you are a piece of work. How does McGuire using steroids as a professional have anything to do with USC? Enjoy this while you can because anybody SC gets is better than neweisel.

Maybe he'll be interested the fourth time. It doesn't hurt to ask. This is about finding the right coach, not rejection avoidance. How petty can you get?

Petersen, Petersen, Petersen
We should all give him a call to gauge his interest.
