Love is blind. Kiffin strikes everyone as a little punk, it's just inescapable. I'm not saying he's a bad person or anything, he's just young, he's been given incredible opportunities that others who have worked their whole lives in coaching never have, and neither his record or his comments as a head coach have earned him esteem. Much less his NCAA violations. We have no choice but to give him a shot, but he's on a short leash with USC fans & boosters. He needs to grow up fast, act with maturity, respect, class and by the rules, while maintaining that positive, and competitive edge. USC boosters won't put up with any crap.
The most important thing for Coach Kiffin to do is to reach out the fans via sports talk radio, Twiiter, and a blog. The sportswriters and sportscasters have already made a decision about who he is and are in kind of a piling on mode right now to see if they can shake him. Scott, try to stay objective and optimistic, because that's what your Trojan fan readers want.
People fear him because he is a mega-talent. The mainstream media doesn't know Kiff. The Trojan family does. Recruits love him. He was born to be a star coach. Lane = PC2.
Sounds like Lane Kiffin is going to get a slap upside the head just as soon as daddy Monty figures out just how arrogant he really is.
I'm willing to wager that LK will be fired after one lackluster season. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets fired before the season is over. Mark it.
