A sizable majority of poll respondents (40 percent) said they will blame Lane Kiffin if USC does not make a BCS bowl next season. So much for a grace period. Mike Garrett was blamed by 24 percent.

Wow job accountability - what a concept. Yawn.

In the voice of Jim Mora: "BCS Bowl? BCS Bowl?"

Lane has proven that he just isn't very bright when it comes to football. He doesn't have what it takes to lead a team to a BCS game, especially with an overrated QB and a defense that is on the soft side. USC will go to the Emerald Bowl again...guaranteed! Too bad USC didn't make an effort for Chow. Oh wait, maybe they're still talking...hahaha!

Barko Author Profile Page said:

Who else's fault would it be? I suppose you could blame PC, since the team fell apart under his watch this season... but Lane knew the stakes coming in. Anything less than a BCS bowl is a disappointment. There is no grace period at an elite program.

One thing is for sure, I'd rather be associated with a program whose fan base expects BCS bowl games and national championship appearances as opposed to a program who openly celebrates an EAGLE BANK BOWL APPEARANCE AND VICTORY OVER A TEAM WHO HAD NOT QUALIFIED FOR A BOWL GAME IN 30 YEARS. I mean if winning that game is what Neuheisal calls progress, and something to be excited about what does that say about the UCLA football program's current state and history?

I am not sure how many people would blame Kiffin. He would be responsible for the results. Big difference

It says that UCLA football has recently been pretty bad. Last year it improved to mediocre.

It's all about recruiting. Even without sanctions from the NCAA, UCLA is pretty clearly catching up. If USC gets more than a wrist slap, that could change even more quickly.

The worm does turn. Remember the 90s?

dodgers55555 Author Profile Page said:

what are you referring to stu? I am clearly responding to the worthless post by the person who posted second here. I do not see how ucla is clearly catching up? even when they stared 2-0 they could only drew 45,000 to the Rose Bowl. If recruits want to play in a half-empty stadium for a coach who used to run the Baltimore Ravens' anemic offense who will undoubtedly have another 6 loss season, then by all means. They might get 1 or 2 five star recruits now and again, but get to me when they are competing for pac-10 championships. Norm chow will never again have the talent he could attract at usc if he remains under neuheisal's hand. There is no wonder it is common knowledge that if they gave out championships for talking a big game in the offseason, UCLA would have 150 championships not 100 (if you count the ones tainted by sam glibert, which is 10). Plus, until someone can prove that anyone at USC had any knowledge of what reggie bush's stepdad was doing 200 miles away from the campus with a person that never was seen at the school, i will take not take the threat of significant sanctions seriously.

mickeyfender Author Profile Page said:

Since when is 40% a "majority"?

NOBS Author Profile Page said:

Norm Chow is NOT a head coach. Period.

Fucla catching up? They compete with BAYLOR for players. Are you kidding me?

Heck, there's a better chance Wolfie will win a Pulitzer Prize than the bRuins winning a national championship in football.

JDStar Author Profile Page said:

How about the players. Next season I don't see PC, LK, or MG fumbling a ball, tossing an interception, or making a dumb penalty at a key moment in any game.

I love how all the trOJie bandwagon fans seem to completely forget about the entire 90's when THEIR stadium was half full...maybe its that they don't forget it...they just don't know because they weren't there. Make no mistake about it...the NCAA WILL punish USC. The excuse of "USC coaches didn't know it was going on..blah blah blah" just doesn't stick. Look at Joe McKnight's LandRover in which Cheatey Petey Carroll wanted him to play at the Emerald Bowl....which is clearly not much better (if at all) than the Eagle Bank Bowl. Question is how did SC not make a BCS game with the talent they've recruited the past five years. Now USC fans lose Cheatey Petey and gain Slow Slimeball Liar Lane Loser Kiffin and think he and his old man will keep the train chugging on. NO WAY. Recruits and their parents see how far USC has fallen and don't want to risk going to school there.

Bottom line...all the wins that Cheatey Petey accomplish to winning two national championships will be turned into loses...meaning good by national championships...looks like you guys only won by cheating. Shocking. Oh...you'll lose post season bowl games, some scholarships and heck, maybe even TV.

Read any neutral sports reporter's take on all the USC violations and they all agree. Face the facts tOeJams...you won by cheating...now those games will be taken back...you'll be embarrased and now others (including UCLA) will take center stage. Look at UCLA's recruiting class right now...you can already see its happening.

UCLA is catching up?? Fools. Where is UCLA catching up to USC? USC ran up the score on UCLA last year while they were on a down season. UCLA was playing their little hearts out, too.

Beating Temple does not "close the gap".

Keep believing the lies that UCLA is "making progress". On a side note, I have some swamp land to sell you. Great price. Contact me for details.

Fucla grad RG, it's good "bye", not "by". Dope.

We'll see about the lost victories. Lucky for the bRuins, that old fart cheating Wooden beat the law out of town before old papa sam got busted. Just one question:

What the hell has Fucla football done since 1954?

Just answer the question.

You’ll have to forgive FUCLA RG’s spelling.

All of the fumes from the acetone he ungraciously used on the bRuin statue (beautified in cardinal and gold by anonymous donors) have eroded what little brain cells he was born with.

Hey, let's not be so hard on the bruins, back in the 90's they got their ass kicked in the Rose Bowl a couple of times. And while the 90s easily were one of the best decades for the bruins against USC, they went 0-2 in the RB and USC went 2-0. Funny how our bad decades are still better than their glory days. Stick to basketball baby blues.

There goes good ol' rod g. USC attracted more than 65,000 fans in the paul hackett years, which were some of the worst years in the program's history. I mean, if we attract more fans to come see our down years than you have to come see the red-faced neuheisal's team all of you are so proud of, that just adds to your embarrassment. Thanks for pointing that out, i had never thought of it from that angle. The funny thing is, despite the fact that usc was down in the 90's we still recruited people like carson palmer and troy polamalu, while ucla will always fester in their own turds when it comes to churning out nfl talent. Oh yeah, and i really like the argument that usc knew about reggie bush because pete carroll wanted joe mcknight to play in the emerald bowl, but as a burden of the state Rod, I hope you can find a remedial logic course so you can make a coherent argument. Have a great day.

fUCLA has no basis to claim that the gap is closing in football. UCLA has only ONE season above 7 wins since 1998 (Dorrell's 10-2 season in 2005). In that time span, six of their seasons were .500 or worse. Even Hackett went 2-1 against fUCLA. That speaks volumes.

As for basketball, 67-46.

Fight On!

Don't forget Fucla won 20 in a row and still didn't win a National Championship in FB!! ROFLMAO

WHAT'S YOUR DEAL? Author Profile Page said:

Finally a trOJie admits to running up the score on UCLA this past season. Speaking of running up the score...how did Cheat Carroll like it when Harbaugh did it to him literally the game before UCLA..."You ok, what's your deal?" LMAO idiots. Its called a hypocrite....you should look the meaning of the word up. Get a clue.

UCLA went 7-6 last season and will have at least a top 15 class and potentially a top 10 class. Only people that think UCLA and Rick Neuheisel aren't making significant progress are the USC Trojans fans who hate to see it while they're on the elevator ride down thanks to their past transgressions with Bush all the way to McKnight.

Oh, and NO WAY USC had 65k people in the stands in the 90s. NO WAY. Nice try though. I hope recruits and the parents of recruits read all this stuff. They need to see how bad USC is.

Hard to get NFL exposure when you won't be on TV and won't be in a post season game for a couple years...and yeah...NO WAY Lane Kiffin and Ed O aren't lying to these poors kids and their families. They are SO HONEST. LMAO Trojan fans.

I had no idea anybody would even dispute UCLA FB is catching up. SC's hall of fame coach left, they just hired a nervous, squeaky liar for a replacement, their AD is on the ropes, the NCAA is pursuing them, and they have developed a nationwide reputation for being the most corrupt program in the country.

Good luck Trojans.

Seriously Trojans, it's wonderfully refreshing not to read or respond to these bRuin trolls. Who cares what some fucla loser who comes on another school's site has to say. Just because you write it on a blog doesn't make it so. Really why would someone waste their time on another school's site? I spend too much time on SC sites and I went there. This site has more fucla losers than SC people. I come on these sites to get information about SC, not get some fucla losers sniping comments. Trust me, it feels great to ignore them.

There goes UCLA fools basing everything on a lack of facts again. USC drew between
57,000-62,000 fans per game in the hackett years, which is still at least 10,000 more than ucla can draw to their games in the NEUHEISAL ERA sans the usc/ucla game when the stands are more than 1/2 full with USC fans. So, get some facts before all of you come and embarrass yourselves. I'm glad your leveraging the future of your program on phantom violations against usc instead of actual accomplishments your team demonstrates on the field. Inferiority complex anyone?

Richie, I think it was readily apparent to everyone that Garrett would have loved to have Norm Chow. But the boosters were not going to have it and at USC they have a huge say, often the final say. Garrett did everything he could to force a dual coaching situation but Kiff and the boosters outmaneuvered on that.

At the end of the day, I thought Garrett was right- Norm as first choice, and after being turned down by a few names (including Sark) and having a few names blocked by the powers that be (see boosters again) he went with Kiffin who was also a logical choice especially with Monte aboard. Monte did however get blown out by VT and some option teams so I don't want to over do just how good he is as a college coach yet.

The goal is obviously the BCS. That said, even if PC had stayed another year, the BCS would have been a challenge considering the current exodus of players to the league and lack of depth in critical positions, It will be interesting to watch Coach Kiffin's new staff address the shortcomings that became REAL this past past season under PC's watch. Blaming Garrett at this point is delusional since PC ran his own program. Garrett has his shortcomings however PC knew what was in the program and that the upcoming year from a talent perspective was going to be a challenge as well. Coach Kiffin may infuse needed recruits and replace the Win Forever mantra with Win Each game. Only time will tell. One thing is for sure and that is PC's fingerprints are all over next year and the following year with his recruits.
