On Sarkisian
I admit to being surprised Steve Sarkisian was contacted to gauge his interest in the USC job. But upon further review, it was probably an attempt to call the only coach who might try to emulate Pete Carroll's system and keep those traditions going . . . without Caesar, of course.

Sarkisian is not a Pac-10 level O.C., let alone a Pac-10-level head coach. Garrett should be fired for just offering him the job. Its the act of someone who is ignorant and desperate.
Holmey......He didn't offer it, just see if he was interested.
I love these whiney Toejam lovers. Its gonna be like the Tollner, Smith, Hackett days all over again. Cheat on!
Sorry, Scott, I think you made this one up. There's no chance anyone from SC asked Sarkisian if he would leave Washington one year into a rebuilding effort. Especially not when Garrett prefers Chow to Sark. I think you read in another article that Sark said he wasn't interested, and extrapolated the rest. Not a first for you.
Sarkisian is another lackey of pete carroll's who was constantly under criticism while at USC. He built a name due to NORM CHOW's reputation...he stole his playbook and is now seen as one of the top young offensive minds, when in reality it was he and lane kiffin who conspired with pete carrol to drive norm chow out of usc. This guy is another scumbag like pete and is a phoney who will suffer midily once jake locker leaves. Anyone who has seen the play of nick montana knows that washington will soon revert back to a 1-3 win team in the pac-10. I'm really glad this bozo is not coming back.
BOOM! dodgers is RIGHT ON!
Neither Kiffin NOR Sarkisian are worth spit. "Stole Chow's playbook" could not be more true. Those guys closed their eyes and opened Chow's playbook to a random page for 2 years and reaped the benefits of Chow's brilliance and USC's superior athletes. Leinart was the real O.C. the year after Chow was run off and then we had to watch Kiffin and Sarkisian run WR screens 15 times a game. I don't think either of those dipsticks drew up a new play in their entire time as O.C.'s. I was glad to see them both go.
Kiffin and Sark both owe everything they have to Chow (or to Daddy Monte). Chow was so good that they got to a National Championship game and on the cusp of a couple more by using his 2 or 3 year-old playbook.
Scott, you have got to check your sources and clean out some of them. If dumm-dumm Mikey G were to offer the j to Sarkisian the giant sucking sound that would be heard would be SC fans dumping tickets and headed for anywhere. Even the Rose Bowl.
First of all the track record of creatures named Barney isn't so hot in this country...Barney Frank..purple dinosaur. so i'll take anything you say with a grain of salt. But, everyone keeps forgetting, fourth choice or not, it was Mike Garrett who put his neck on the line and gave Pete a job when he was jobless in 2001. But Pete has proven to be ego-driven man who has scared away great coaching talent and as a result he has not been to a NC game despite the glut of talent we have accrued since 2005. I think bringing in fresh blood like riley/chow or del rio/chow/orgeron would improve the quality of coaching at USC and would prove to be another great hire by MG...just look at what he has found in Kevin O'neill...people can criticize him all they want, but they have no facts.

What does that even mean? What is the point of asking someone if they are interested if the job will not be offered to them? Who would do that? And what would be the 'end game' of a manuever like that?
That's even dumber than actually offering the job to Sark.
I agree again, dodger. However, I think you give Garrett MUCH more credit than I do. I think that Garrett lucked into Chow and the way he cut the legs out from under Floyd will make me dislike Garrett forever, but I agree with the rest of your comments.
Those two coaching options you have there are both great in my eyes.
I also think that O'Neill was a great hire, but he was the only choice they had (much like Carroll), so I am not sure Garrett gets full credit there.
Have you been reading my articles? LOL!:

Steve Suckisian WOW now we have heard everything. That guy flat out sucks. He sucked at USC , he sucks at Udub and always will.
Bet money , Suckisian had someone make this up. The guy is always trying to make himself look good.
Steve Sarkisian should have been made coach in waiting 2 years ago. Let's see, who's job is it to develop a line of succession in the program? Oh, yeah, Mike Garrett!
I'm with DFWTrojan. Sark leaving last year was just disruptive. The AD's top priority needs to be continuity. Except in the event of death or onset of serious illness of a coach, a program like USC's just should not ever, ever run into this kind of uncertain situation.
