On Tebow

| | Comments (8) |

ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay said Tim Tebow hurt himself this week at the Senior Bowl.

``I hate to say it because he's battled and done everything that's been asked of him. ... He's gone through every drill, he's shown improvement with getting snaps under center and he's working at it, but he's just not there.
``I thought coming in (to Senior Bowl) that maybe all the intangibles and all the little things he did and showing signs of improvement could help his stock. I would say unfortunately that it hurt his stock because just looking at him and comparing him to other mid-level quarterbacks - it's not Bradford and Clausen here - it's Tony Pike who's the best of the group and he's probably going to be a third-round pick.
``I think you can make an argument that Tebow as a passer, just evaluating his potential as a passer and pocket passer in the NFL, he was no better than the fourth best here. And I really think he has such a long way to go and he has to accept one of two things. He either A) he needs to strip down and completely start over as a quarterback and a passer and that's going to take a lot of hard work or may not work, or B) he's going to need to play another position in the NFL.''

How can a player attend a "football factory" for four years and come out with very little applicable skill for professional football? This is not a kid who sat on the sidelines, he started for three of those years! I know, I know, they run a spread offense which doesn't translate well to the professional game. That's like saying I went to a law school and learned a lot, unfortunately, the law they teach doesn't really apply to the real world.

Outside of getting a little bigger, and maybe a little faster, what improvements did Tim Tebow make between his freshman and senior years? What, he gained valuable "experience" and became a better "leader"! Great, he gained experience in a system that is now useless to him and you can be the best leader in the history of the world but if you're going into battle with no ammunition, good luck!

This is why Scroggins is coming to SC and not Florida. Why would any top high school QB go to Florida? The Pac 10 is really the place to go to develop for NFL. SC, Wash with Sark, Stanford, Cal, even fucla with Chow.

well...something tells me that Tebow's going to find success beyond football. This might blow your mind, but some people actually measure success in life beyond what happens on the gridiron - I know sc fans, it's a foreign concept.

As for Scroggins, can you say - Reggie Perry? Hope he likes underachieving like Taylor Mays @ safety.

I’m sure there's much about life beyond football that the Malibu Pool Boy can enlighten us with.

Interesting tidbits such as checking the pool light, cleaning filters, adding chlorine...and lamenting about FUCLA’s perennial irrelevance.

Oh yeah, and malibu lives by his words everyday. Thats why he wastes his time on the site of a team he does not even support, thus really taking advantage of his free time to lead a fulfilling life. Its times like these i get pissed off that my tax dollars go towards funding a glorified community college like ucla undergrad. Have fun learning from your TA's.
