LOL!!! Just as if SC will lose sleep over not being able to find a quality OC for 1.5 mil/yr...it's YOUR loss, Norm!

Personally, I always thought it was smart to go to a situation that had been in trouble in the past. There's nowhere to go but up. If you're the least bit competent, you're bound to look good. That's what happened when Pete and Norm (and Lane and Ed) came to USC in 2001 and that's what happened when Norm went to UCLA.

USC would have been a no win situation (reputation wise) for Norm. If he won, it would have been glory shared with Lane. If he lost, he would have shared the blame.

At UCLA, expectations are low. If it doesn't pan out, everyone will just say that he did amazing things with the players he had to work with.

And looking back at the glory years (2001-2004), was it really Norm that did it? Or was it the players who were recruited that made him look so good? It's not like USC went into a slump as soon as he left. They still had 11 win seasons with BCS bowls and Pac-10 championships.
