QB Class
Here's ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay on this year's quarterback class. It sort of refutes last year's assumption that Mark Sanchez would face tough competition if he came out this year.
``I think the problem with this class is that there's not a lot of elite quarterback prospects. You have Sam Bradford from Oklahoma, Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen. Then you have a little bit of a drop off there. I think Colt McCoy (Texas) is a second or third-rounder. I think Tony Pike (Cincinnati) is moving up in that third-round range as well. Then Tim Tebow (Florida), in my opinion, is no better than a third-round draft pick.
``After that you're looking more at developmental quarterbacks, like John Skelton from Fordham, who is a big, strong-armed quarterback; Sean Canfield, who is here this week from Oregon State, who doesn't have great tools but has the mind and the accuracy; Jarrett Brown from West Virginia is very raw or Dan LeFevour from Central Michigan who has enough tools but needs time to develop as well.''

Had Mark Sanchez been the #1 QB pick and possibly the overall #1 pick, he'd have gone to a way inferior team. How could do ever do better than living in NY with a $56M contract? Not to mention the endorsements he could get. Look at the playoff teams this year, where would you want to live? Maybe SD, but that's about it.
Scott,
Hindsight is 20/20
Last year at this time no one would have predicted that Bradford would get hurt and miss the season and that McCoy and Tebow would end up looking average
In fact, everyone was predicting monster seasons for all three and with the exception of Tebow, first round draft status
I can't imagine Sanchez having a better bowl game than the one last year against Penn State. I kept that game on TIVO and watched it several times. He did everything possible and did it really well. It was a great send-off for the pros.
