Reasons To Leave
1. He always wanted to go back to the NFL one more time. 2. The Pac-10 caught up and the talent disparity disappeared. 3. His schemes no longer worked or were innovative. 4. His relationship with Mike Garrett. 5. NCAA sanctions. 6. Money. 7. Power.

Realized he couldn't win
1-A national championship without Norm.
2-A Pac-10 championship without Steve.
8. Neu-Hassle chased him out of...holy crap wait a minute, who's gonna break it to Barks?
Candidates to tell Barks:
1) Garrett's wife
2) Garrett's bodyguard
3) wolf?
9. Ego. Same thing that prevented him from making up with Norm Chow.
10. He found out Charlie Bucket was stalking him and need to relocate under the Witness Protection Plan.
All this list needs is a little rewrite, and you can use it when you leave the Daily News for TMZSports.com.
Unlike his ridiculous Final Top 25, this list makes sense. And whether the baby blue bears or any other fan base admits it, Pete Carroll was not only USC football, he was Pac-10 football. Without USC's run over the last eight years, the Pac 10 is the ACC or the Big East. Carroll forced the conference up its game.
And without Pete Carroll, Pac-10 football looks to be a second tier BCS conference once again. Biggest winners -- not Neu-weasel, but 1.) Notre Dame 2.) The Big Ten 3.) The Big 12.
HERE COMES THE PAIN!!!! Bye Bye Heisman. Bye Bye Pac-10 and NC.
