State Of The Versus Conference

| | Comments (3) |

Here's a nice interview with Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott, which addresses expansion and a Pac-10 Network. Scott spoke to reporters today and one consensus is that BYU would probably not be considered a viable fit for the conference, which values research institutions.

Below is a post from Terrell: (I could not state any better, I am full agreement )

The schools that would fit in the PAC 10 are
San Diego St. and Fresno St., they ARE on the Pacific coast , the PAC 10 already recruits alot in San Diego and the athletes that come out of the San Diego area schools are exceptional, just look at the rosters of the PAC 10 and Mountain West, full of San Diego kids, if half of those kids stayed home San Diego St. could be ranked in the top 25 yearly, San Diego St. enrollment is more than some of the other schools already in the PAC 10, they finally got a good old fashioned smashmouth coach in Hoke, he should hopefully turn the program around.San Diego high schools have produced 4 heisman trophy winners Marcus Allen,Ricky Williams,Rashaan Salaam, and Reggie Bush, thats some talent. Also Fresno St. in the WAC conference always produces top talent, they are always knocking the big boys from the BCS conferences. finally you could divide the PAC into a north division consisting of Washington, Washington St., Oregon, Oregon St., California, Stanford and in the south USC,UCLA, Arizona ,Arizona St., San Diego St. , Fresno St. keep the schools in the Rocky Mts out of the PAC discussion

CV,
Thanks for your input. I think you are right. I surely hope this wrong is righted. The State schools were dissed in 78'. Rumor is that SC was adamant against it.

Back in the 60's the State Schools were really good. As matter of fact. Cal State LA was the best and San Diego ans Fresno state were no joke. San Jan Jose state was beating Cal and Stanford regularly. I believe then that they could give USC a run. In 1992 Fresno State did USC in a Bowl and almost did it again in 2005.

If they would do this, the LAX would look like ATL airport. On the weekends during football season, the ATL airport is full of SEC fans going to their games. ATL is the hub, its funny watching them scurrying to their connections.
