Answer Monday! (Part 5)

A question about Reggie Bush and remedial social skills here.

Reggie Bush has not settled with Lloyd Lake, thereby exposing USC to the testimony that will come out next week from Michael Michaels and Reggie Bush in deposition, which the NCAA is apparently waiting to receive. Any thoughts you have about Bush’s failure to settle the lawsuit (and thereby exposing USC to such deposition testimony) and the impact on the NCAA investigation is greatly appreciated. As always, thanks for the forum, Scott.

A: Bush’s failure to settle the Lake lawsuit is the biggest mistake he made in all of this. I was told his lawyers begged him to settle and he refused years ago. It would have prevented the drama that is on-going, not to mention probably reduced USC’s chances of being penalized. But Bush was determined not to settle with Lake (unlike Michael Michaels) for whatever reason. His legal fees alone would have made settling worth it in the beginning. I don’t think Bush will be very forthcoming in the deposition but he still puts USC at more risk by testifying. From the school’s standpoint, it’s not a great move on his part.

Hey Scott,

I’ve noticed your analysis on Jeremy Bates’ communication skills, and was wondering if you could give us some examples or specific encounters that led you to your conclusions?

A: He pretty much had the social skills of a coffee mug during interviews. He could not answer simple questions without misinterpeting their meaning. He handled softball questions as though he was being asked to discuss Middle East policy. Even when USC did well, he seemed to be unable to enjoy it. It was like dealing with a small child. He told the crowd at Salute to Troy he was a “redneck,” which is probably a good example of his social skills.

Hey lame!! In 2009 Tennessee gained 2.302 yds and SC, in a bad year, gained 2,388. In 2008 the same guys gained 2,808 yard. The MOST. THE FREAKING MOST, WE CAN HOPE FOR FROM YOU IS THAT YOU DON’T SCREW IT UP!!

  3. and USChoopnut has the skills of a sheep because like most of the posters on here….he likes to follow the herd…now be a good boy and run off to your other websites that you like to read so much…maybe Chris Penrose can give you some “insight”….lol

  4. Sheesh…………..Scott’s discription of Bates speaking skills goes back to the “must pass” programs in K thru 12 schools and wherever he went to college says a lot about that school. Maybe he is a rocket scientist type where all he knows is football and little else… but he has PC to take care of his social obligations.

  5. The real props in the Rivals.Yahoo piece went the Orange County Register’s Michael Lev. Wolf’s name wasn’t even mentioned. The reference to his supposedly biting wit was simply “beat writers.” I guess Matt Hinton at Rivals.com is too embarrassed to let people know he actually follows Wolf.

Maybe it was an “editors error.” LOL
