Apparently, Bakersfield is becoming a USC hotbed for recruiting, as kicker Andre Heidari committed over the weekend. He joins quarterback Cody Kessler.

Bakersfield has alway been a football hotbed. Remember Frank Gifford, Jim Maples, Ken Ruettgers, John Rosatto, Larry Parker, Ted Roberson, Jason Oliver, Ernie Pye, to name a few.

But, excuse the expression, shouldn't Bakersfield be a
natural "hotbed," especially in the summer?
As a Bakersfield native this makes me proud.
