The conventional wisdom is always be at least 3 deep at QB. Mustain is gone next year by the time these kids get here, meaning if Barkley goes down we only have Scroggins left (I am deliberately not even considering Boyd). They are insurance in case of a disaster and fit a future need. Plus, getting both of these guys just keeps one of them off another team. I personally like Wittek more because he is mobile, taller and comes from a proven QB system for us, but Kessler is a great pickup, and the competition will be on.

trust me, those kids will be outa there faster than old what's his name in his girlfriend's range rover when sanctions hit.

Again, none of these guys would be committing to USC if the NCAA had the goods and the real hammer was going to fall on the program. The guys that did commit would be bolting already. SC has had the info for at least a couple days and still the recruits keep coming.
Jones leaving is only due to the fact the USC doctors won't clear him to play and he needs to go to a new school to get evaluated some more.

usc4life: a great question! it seems that USC gets player so that noone else gets them, hence so many QBs as well Wide Receivers, in the end it will come back and bite them on the a$$ when the depth becomes shallow at other postions as you are starting to see at the OLine, DLine and LB pos.

BruinRob, the recruiting news the last two years wasn't all that much better. Hit the drop-down menu under year and compare the 2009 and 2010 classes. UCLA's still trailing in talent. That, much more than whatever happens tomorrow, is going to affect what continues to happen on the field.

spedmoans, you just posted a link that shows 'SC with 10 Top 100 recruits and fucla with 4. Hmmm.

'SC also has the highest average star rating per recruit. Highest on the page, mind you. fucla signed 9 more recruits, and by scout.com's rankings, "outscored" 'SC by a whopping 229 "recruiting points." Congratulations.

By the way, 'SC finished higher in ESPN.com's and rivals.com's rankings. Just thought I'd clarify that for you.
