A Better L.A.
Here's a New York Times story on how Dodgers executive Howard Sunkin, who referred to himself as a good friend of Pete Carroll during a class at USC, got paid more than $400,000 by a Dodger charity that only had a total budget of $1.6 million.
The Times reports that salary is more in line for a charity with $100 million. Hopefully, Caesar did not donate to the Dodger charity or allow Sunkin to attend many football practices.

Even sadder than the fact that a story which is 99.9% irrelevant to USC is being posted on a USC blog, is the fact that it was apparently uncovered by a paper on the other side of the country, rather than by the LA Times. Or, for that matter, the L.A. Daily News.
This seems like a "sweeet scooop" that should cause more embarrassment for the Daily News and other local media than for Pete Carroll, who would appear to have zero to do with any aspect of this story.
Howard "The Rug" Sunkin sits on the aisle in Tunnel 4. He splits his time glad handing coaches, press, alumni and Mike Garrett as they pass up and down on their way to the field or press box and going down to the field himself. Oh, yes, he spends most of his time on the sidelines...cuz that's how he can impress his friends...
The angle SW missed on this one is what role did The Rug play in getting Mrs. McCourt on the SC Board of Trustees??? (A complete joke) And what role is he playing in keeping his pal in the AD position? Yes, this story does have some relevancy to USC if anyone cared to track down this shakedown artist's connections.
what is sadder than whiners like Cafe 84, but then again, like many USC fans...everything always has to be positive and you can never say anything bad about "Saint" Pete....
don't read the blog then Cafe 84...go back to the other message boards....
What is saddest is when individuals like TrojanRewind engage in personal attack (calling Cafe a whiner) instead of addressing the merits of what Cafe posted --which in spot on.
So let's get this straight: someone refers to himself as a friend of PC and then PC is smeared when the other guys gets in trouble.
We do live in a world of idiots.
the worst part is people like Free Thinker actually do not believe in free thinking because you think Pete Carroll is above reproach....I hope you don't have any kids Free Thinker because the world will be a worse place, trust me....
Wolf,
I do not understand your hatred of Pete. At no time did the NCAA find that he did anything wrong. It was a player and his step-father, not Pete. So what is your problem? So what if he left USC, it is his option to leave a job if he wants to leave. He was with us for almost a decade. He brought so much joy to USC and did so much for the city often at personal risk to his safety. This sounds like LeBron and Cleveland. Really, let's appreciate all that he did. For him to have left because of possible sanctions is really ridicules as no one could have predicted what and why the NCAA did what they did. The facts were not there and their punishment in no way fit the crime.
Maybe you are a HS droput Rewind. No one said PC is above reproach. The point is that Wolf's smear tactic is a baseless cheap shot.
