How much Adderall did Pete Carroll take by noon on the average day? I'm guessing about enough to kill a few elephants.
A: He was famous for drinking several Mountain Dews by midday, which is full of caffeine.

Do you think the players will be more motivated to shoot for an undefeated 13-0 season, as opposed to just winning the Pac-10. And if so, do you think they fall apart after their first lost?
A: I think USC will be highly motivated to show people it deserves recognition, even if it cannot be ranked in the coaches' poll or go to a bowl game. I don't think a loss will make a difference for motivational purposes. However, several losses will. That's when you see some teams quit.

How is the recovery of D.J. Morgan, Patrick Hall, Marshall Jones, and Hebron Fangupo from their injuries?
A: Marshall Jones and Hebron Fangupo should be OK to play this season. Patrick Hall will be 50-50. D.J. Morgan is likely to redshirt.

Scott, Love your work.
Since it is important with recruiting and the sanctions how many players do the Trojans have on football scholarship this year and how many football players graduate after the season ends year?
A: The number on scholarship is fluid because players are transferring or can still transfer. And some might turn pro after this season.

Does Mike Garrett really feel that he should keep his job?
Mike B, USC currently has 71 scholarship players on it's roster, including the players expected to arrive (or have already arrived) for this season. 16 Seniors will have used up their eligibility by year's end unless any of them get waivers for some special reason. There are a few juniors that might bolt early for the NFL. Since only 15 of the 2010 signees counted against that year, SC could add another 10 mid-year enrollees. If SC did that, they would have 70 players on scholarship by national signing day. My understanding is that USC is "accepting" 5 scholarship reductions for the next three years with a maximum of 80 and the appeal stays the remainder of the penalty. That would allow them to sign another 10. So, as long as the appeal goes past 2/2/11, SC should be able to add approximately 20 players after the 2010 season.
