Haden In Charge

Finally something postitive out of USC, I was almost starting to feel sorry for them. Haden is a perfect hire, and the fact the Heisman is going back to New York, shows that USC is doing everything it can to clean that tarnished reputation it has built over the past ten years.

Hopefully with Haden in charge the playing field will even out in the Pac-10 and specially in Los Angeles, UCLA will no longer have to compete for recruits in an unfair disadvantage, as I feel Pat Haden is a person of high morals that does not have the "win at all cost" mentality.

Congrats to USC, on this hiring and in the efforts under the new management in trying to get things back to normal...the humiliation of having to give up a Heisman is not something I feel compelled to poke fun at, but rather applaud the boldness displayed by the new administration. Bravo!!

And just think, USC has GIVEN BACK as many Heisman Trophys as fucla has won. ROFLMAO

Just read all the comments on the day, and not one stands out as being very rational. Is everybody on the blog an overly-infused testosterene 13-year old man-boy? Most of course are from ucla extremists, so it is not big news that they are all SC-negative.

But I am disappointed that so many SC posters feel a need to get down in the dirt to play handball against the curb with the ucla-haters. Don't engage them, it only encourages them.

That said, I think it is ironic how I posted my number one sports thrill the other day as Haden to J.K. McKay to set up the National Championship for SC in 1974. Haden will probably be around for only 3-years or so to restore the storied tradition of SC, but I bet J.K. will inherit the job for the next 20-years after that.

As an aside, I listened to our leader Scott Wolf on the radio tonight and I was impressed. He is always looking for the joke, has a wry sense of humor although overly-set in sarcasm, and is a pretty good radio personality. Maybe some of the anti-Wolf antagonists should lighten up. Or not.

Saddens me to say, but this is an excellent hire. Of what I know and what I hear those close to him tell me, this guys a competitor, smart, and clean through and through. SC getting on my good side by hiring good guys like Hadden and O'neil? Probably not, but two less things to laugh about.

Yeah, this hire kinda revealed who's merely a hater, and who's off their rocker.

LJ, agreed with you up until the last 2 paragraphs. JK would be a horrible AD. Have you ever heard him speak? Old crap his dad did, which was funny then, but not funny now. Just wait. He'll be horrible if selected. PH would be great.

This is great news. Garrett is an ass clown ans should have been fired on the outgoing Presidents watch. I AM MOST SATISFIED AND VERY HAPPY THAT USC IS RIDDING ITSELF OF ALL ASSOCIATION WITH REGGIE BUSH AND O.J. MAYO! THIS IS A GREAT STAND TO MAKE AND A VERY NOTABLE THING FOR THEM TO DO! I hope RB goes home and gives his ghetto trash mom and punk thug wanna be step daddy a big hug for all their great parental guidance and maneuvering that got RB this just reward. What a shame that any institution has to take such drastic steps to make a point and take a stand for its principals and values. NO OTHER school would even think of doing as much. Pete Carroll has to feel a great deal of guilt and remorse for his association with the whole mess and he now has to wear that as a badge the rest of his life. No matter what Pete does in the LA community to help kids this is his Albatros and its gonna be with him like stink on a UCLA cheerleader, always.

LJ mentions a time line of Haden's tenure, 3 years then what?...by then Carroll will have worn out his welcome in Seattle and will headed back to L.A. to settle in as the next AD.

Let's all allow this trojan some space when he says "this is going to be a blast, fun". After he gets over himself with this appointment, then I think he will come back down to earth and start being more business like. Pat Haden is not Pete Carroll with this "fun business"!
