USC will announce today that Pat Haden will take over as athletic director Aug. 3, replacing Mike Garrett.
Garrett told friends he would be safe if he made it to football season, which he did not.
Wow! Now that's news. Great, logical choice. Maybe Garrett can take over Haden's gig announcing Domer home games.

wow - wonder if that means he did have input into the hiring of lane despite his denials. it's a natural. didn't know he had his hat in the ring. should bring some credibility back to the AD's office.
yes, that's a real scoop, wolfie.

No, it's not a scoop, Sheep. Not a scoop because Scooter was the last to post about it. Everybody from ESPN to the LA Times had this locked down and Scooter was sucking hind tit.
Get out in front of your beat Scooter!
That being said, GREAT HIRE by SC. I think everyone respects Pat Haden and anticipates great things out of Heritage Hall as a result of him being there. Now I wonder what NBC will do about airing Notre Dame games? Pat Haden was the best part of the broadcast.

Great hire by USC!! I realize Haden is financially well off, given that he is part of an investment firm, and his NBC money. But, is he taking a paycut and an increase in responsibility with the AD job?? Is he giving up the NBC gig? (Does ND really want the USC AD to be the color commentator for its games?)

Mike,
I think a more fitting job for Garrett would be as member of the NCAA Infractions Committee. Given what Paul Dee did to get there as Miami's AD (largest Pell Grant fraud in U.S. history, another $400K in known improper benefits to football players, failure to implement drug testing policy and allowing drug failed players to continue playing), I don't think Garrett is qualified to take over as head of the committee but I think he at least deserves a seat!

AUUUUUUUUU-WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Oh, you mean the LAT broke the story... and the OCR, ESPN, and sports radio shows all gave credit where credit was due... all except Wolfie.
Finally USC will have a repectable human being running the show that does not have the "win at all costs" mentality. Good news for USC overall, and bad news for the Cheat Carroll mentality lovers, as now you will have to be more careful about who USC recruits, because Pat Haden is an upstanding man.

Yes, we'd hate to recruit a guy who might arrive in a limo to a shameful press conference held for him to announce how great he is the moment he steps onto campus... oh no that already happened... at Neuter Shame. Shame On!!!!

Outstanding hire, absolutely. Pat Haden has the experience, credibility, and savvy to take the reins, especially at this time. Good fortune for USC.

The LA Times may have broken the story, but they haven't gotten around to posting it on the website.
Always liked Pat, couldn't imagine a better choice!
